approximately how insane would i have to be to use a pure hydrogen oxygen gun? and if i remember correctly because its pure oxygen instead of the 20% oxygen in normal this would be considered a hybrid at normal air pressure, right? anyone know what type of pressure a pure hydrogen oxygen mix would create on ignition?any really important safety concerns i should know before i build this?

From what I know about hybrids I'd call you crazy unless you used steel. But it would be pretty awesome to see that mother go boom.

It would build up a couple hunded psi. If you had a SCH 160 stainless steel chamber and a remote ignition it would be safe. And n, it wouldnt be an "official" hybrid, but it would be just as powerful, maybe evenmore powerful.

Why wouldn't it be an "official" (what do you mean by that anyway?) hybrid. As long as there's pressure in the chamber, it's pneumatic/combustion.

It wouldn't be a hybrid because there would be no pressure in the combustion chamber before firing. The only way to make this safe would be to use it in a metal gun about the size of a pill bottle. Hydrogen and oxygen is REALLY powerful. It detonates instead of burning, which is incredibly dangerous in anything but a tiny chamber.
This vid I found gives you an idea of what it can do.

F$#k me that was awesome. A small chamber you say, so how would I get hydrogen and oxygen per say?

It is easy as hell to make hydrogen and oxygen in the perfect mix to combust. Use electrolysis. Get some water and mix some bicarbonate of soda in. (Whatever you read elsewhere, DO NOT USE SALT!!! IT WILL PRODUCE TOXIC CHLORINE GAS) Then put 2 electrodes in the water and run electricity between them. I usually use 12v. Provided that the current is DC, hydrogen will bubble off one electrode and oxygen off the other. The one making more bubbles is the hydrogen.
You can use several things for electrodes. Copper is terrible and corrodes very quick, steel is better, and the carbon rods from batterys are even better.
There is a vid and a few pics of me setting off some hydrogen/oxygen froth in this thread. The foam was made by putting a tiny tiny tiny amount of detergent in the water (too much and the bubbles get so small they won't light)

and how would I go about collecting the hydrogen?

collect the hydrogen and the oxygen at the same time
alternatively you can collect the hydrogen by putting a balloon at the top of the container and it would fill it as hydrogen isn't as dense as oxygen.

well at the electrodes, the gas will bubble up, so u would need to trap it above the electrode since the gas rises. to collect, just simply have a ball valve or tap on the end where u collect the gas. it would work best if u completely flooded the electrolysis aparatus so u get pure hydrogen and oxygen gas.
EDIT: i guess two plastic bottles rigged up would work just fine. and since there is 2 hydrogen to 1 oxygen, one volume of gas is double the other, allowing u to figure out which is hydrogen.
Correct me if I'm wrong but when you mix hydrogen and oxygen together don't they react explosively, turning back to water? Just trying to remember my grade six science class.

yes they fine.... as long as you don't have a spark but anyway the diagram from the wiki looks exactly like the machine i made, so thats where the hydrogen and oxygen are coming from. the thing is powered by an sli power supply (40Amp on the 12 volt rail), its in working condition but im reluctant to let it run for a while cause i have no idea how fast pressure builds, working on getting some cheap 100psi gauges. the gun is going to have a metal chamber and barrel and i hope it ends up lokking something like this
