I have a couple questions
1. Is it illegal?
2. Could it potentialy kill someone?
3. I have a combustion gun, and i used a grill igniter + paperclip to make the spark. in stead of inserting it in the middle of the chamber, its in the cap. would i get more power putting it in the middle?
4. I heard right guard deoderant is great, but i tried it and it didnt work. good gasses besides hairspray? (getting the inside sticky)

it depends on where you live wheather or not its legal. here where i live it is not, but just 50 miles from here it is. In the US it is mostly city regulations rather than federal laws. just call the police department and ask, they will tell you. say something like "i was going to build one and wanted to check first".

i like the sparker in the middle because its easy to hold, in theory its better in the back.
axe, propane, anything that says flamable that is in a spray can.

2. Whats 'it'? Depends how powerful your gun is and what you are shooting.
3.Probably, it would be a helluva lot safer.
4.Look at the homepage. Right guard took out some of their ingredients that were flamable and help combust the mixture in an ideal enviroment(combustion chamber).
Propane/MAPP are very good 'gasses' to use, they will increase performance in your gun significantly if you build the metering system correctly and they don't leave sticky residue.
Please search before you make useless topics like this.

you see mrcrowly's signature? click on the one that says "spud winki" you will find meters in there. basicly it accuratly messures propane so you get a consistant amount.

If you can walk out your door and shoot a pellet gun or a paintball gun, then chances are a spud cannon will be fine. If you call the police department about it then use words such as launcher instead of gun, many police haven't heard of spud cannons and may freak out at the name.
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).
I was under the impression that a spark in the middle of the chamber would be more effective than one placed in the rear because you achieve two flame fronts instead of a single one, however the difference would be minimal i imagine. Just make sure to install a C.P.U. Fan in your "Launcher" to mix all the gases nicely and achieve a good BANG! This can also help vent exhaust gases after a shot so you get clean fresh air for the next.

one it depends how you take it if you just shoot stuff on your property you should be fine.THe trouble is when you shoot stuff out of your property.(at least in Australia.)
two, Like hell it could kill someone(depending on the type of cannon)
.I've put a hole through a wooden door(pretty thin toilet door) with my old combustion which i ignited with a hole a drilled in the top no electronics just a hole that you spray in and then light.
three, Put it in the middle because like hi suggested it would be easier to hold.
And Four, use any deodorants they all work good for me.Hair spray ,i found when i rigged i up my old combustion to electronic sparker, works best for electronic ones whereas deodorant for open hole.
