modified sprinkler valve or piston valve

just wondering if anyone could shed some light on a topic i been wondering about

would a sprinkler valve or piston valve give more power?

if the same PSI and barrell and chamber volumes were the same

no it wouldnt piston valves are much more powerful

I'd have to say "it depends" - with a barrel diameter lower than .75" or .6", a 1" spirinkler valve will give you better preformance. The reason for this is that our valves have a flow of about 40-50% efishency times the inner diameter of the pipe, and the sprinker valves have a flow of about 30% times 1". Thus, to figure out the diameter that gives you the same flow as a 1" sprinkler:
1*.3 = X*.4
.3 = X*.4
.3/.4 = X
