do i need to put a shroud on an inline vortex block? also what would happen if i may or may not have glued the block in place making it nearly impossible to install one? would it work fine without one?

It should work without one. I believe Noname said he doesn't use a shroud with his. I made one that uses a shroud and it works fine though, so it should work either way.

i have a normal "tee" version of the vortex gun with a shroud on it but i was in a rush to finish this inline one (got to have it done and completely dried by Tuesday) and it just slipped my mind. so before i go even further can some one else confirm that it doesn't need a shroud to work correctly. there is still sort of a chance that i can get a shroud on it now (it would be a massive pain in the a$$ though)

It depends. If you used a "full hole" vortex block, it will most likely jam without shrouds. If you used the "partial hole" design, shrouds only jam and are unnecessary.

Ouch. Hope you figure something out...

I ordered a block from noname and judging from the pictures (haven't gotten the thing yet) he puts shrouds on his.

Singularity, what do you mean by the block is completely sealed?
Spudbud, no, I don't. All they do is jam up the block, so I leave them off.

i may or may not have covered the block with epoxy instead of usinfg an end cap. its a little hard to explain... i used a modified "tee" form block in an inline wait i ll draw a picture

<img src="http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j85/i ... ortex1.jpg">

yellow= brass (air inlet nipple and barrel)
orange= vortex block
white= pipe
gray= epoxy

its basically a tee vortex block turned on its side, if any ones still lost ill go find a camera and take a picture of the real thing

im thinking if it does jam really bad ill just cut the pipe at the position i have marked "1" and use a coupler to put it back together

Try it out first, if you don't have shrouds on it, it will most likely jam.

wow i just tested this thing its like twice as menacing as my old gun, AND it shoots in a straight line :D (i had no idea that the tight bore would give me such an improvement) it didn't jam but i haven't put in the spring piston thing yet, i really hope this works. it will be battle tested tomorrow after that ill probably post it within a week (there are a few cosmetic things i need to do the gun is styled after an AK)

well it does jam if i try to continuously fire but if i keep it at like short bursts of 50-100 bbs (also know as one second or less of firing) it seems to be fine. and i only tested it with .2g bbs so far but it seems to go about 90ft in a perfectly straight line then instantly spread out into about a 40 ft circle. its a kinda odd phenomenon to watch. i do have 10,000 .25g bbs in the basement ill have to test. if i find a high res camera ill try and video tape it for you. also i would like to include the fact that this thing sounds like a mini gun, i mean it scares me to even fire it.

wow, that's a lot of rounds per second... does anyone know how to decrease the rate of fire with a vortex? that seems excessive.
