I have seen many videos of bbmgs and vortex guns. In all of the videos the bbs seen to drop down rather quickly. I was wondering if a standard aeg hop up unit would work on a bbmg/ vortex to increase the range, or if the high rate of fire would have a negative effect.

Thanks,
Tom

well it would slightly decrease fire rate but it would boost the range a bit, however i believe at 100 rps vortex gun average the bucking would not last very long. i would suggest heaver bbs and a tight bore (.25g or something) but if you have an extra AEG lying around go for it (just don't epoxy it in place)

i think the hop-up would wear down quite quickly, but this would deffinetly help. i reccomend buying a cheap spring pistol and ripping the hop-up rubber out of it and placing it on the end of your barrel (modified, of course, to look alike to the spring pistol's barrel.............)

it should work......... if it doesnt well then you tried, eh?

If I do plan on making a bbmg with hop up i will probably make the hop up myself (Cut hole in top of the barrel and add a rubber piece). You are right, a standard airsoft hop up unit is probably not made for that type of ROF.

your going to need to find a way to very precisely adjust it so the bbs don't go straight up as soon as they leave the barrel. also i would suggest looking at how an airsoft gun hop up works there is this thing called a spacer (basically piece of thick wire insulation) and it allows the bb to push up the hop rubber so it can pass down the barrel. you might need to incorporate that into your design some how, possibly a weak spring. those guns are surprisingly more complicated than they seem especially the high end ones.

Yea I already decided to put a plastic rectangle with a threaded hole in it over the hole in the barrel. I would then screw in a bolt with a piece of rubber on the bottom making it adjustable.

-Note that this picture was made using a linux os. The picture making program is
hard to figure out (I couldn't figure out how to make text).

The black is the barrel, the blue (or is that purple) is the plastic rectangle, the greyish part is the rubber, and the orange is the bolt.
