I know all you punks be hating ball valves but this is my first gun, future projects might have piston. Here are some pics. A 3/4" cpvc barrel, 2" chamber, a valve for loading air and one for firing, bad primer job what more can i say?

and yes i plan on painting

My ammo is navy beans in place of airsoft BBs thats about a 300% price difference. Also a pvc bolt. And one dart that i made thanks to someones post on here (no, i'm not making a link I'm LAZY)

The chamber is DWV but it said 280psi so i assume its ok, it was water tested to 120psi by me.

Yes, i put the pictures on backwards, so sue me.

Dude... You need a barrel with like, 10x as much volume as that one. What's the C:B on this thing?
Spring loading the ball valve would be simple and would increase performance.

Well now that you have pics i can critique you :D
Its not bad at all but DYI is definately right, you can increase the barrel by alot, but i do like to have my chamber have somewhat more volume than my chamber but not as much as you have in your pic, by alot. But besides that, you could mod the ball valve too. But make sure you have adequite information about piston valves b4 you go prancing on and making one because you dont want to mess up 2 guns like i did and spend 150. Remember, you can never have too much info. :P

What? A little description of what you are talking about would be nice.

How could the C:B on that be 1:1.2?
From what I can see, it is closer to 15:1.
How long is the barrel and how long is the chamber?

You mean mod your sprinkler valve? Or spring load your ball valve?

For sprinkler valve mods go here:
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/modding ... -t305.html

Next time search, we have loads of topics on modding sprinkler valves.

If the chamber and barrel are both 12" long, with the barrel 3/4" in diameter and the chamber 2" in diameter, then the C:B ratio is 7.1:1.

try Advanced search and remember not to double post :)

But i would have to say i think we dont have too much info on spring loaded ball valves but for everything else pertaining to spud gun creation, shooting and everthing else under this topic, we have alot of. :D

We do have a fair amount on spring loading ball valves, but since ball valves aren't very powerful as primary valves, not many people need to mod them.

All you do is hook a spring up to a ball valve, it's very simple to do, if you built this cannon you should be able to just use your head and you'll come up with how to do it. Very simple.
