You can't run a Chevy that way ether. Next week when I get my new scanner I will scan up a page or 2 out of my Briggs manual so you can see whats going on inside the crankcase.

Standing that on it's rear it would run untill the valves chambers got gunked up enough to make the engine stall. The oil pump will still be in oil standing it on it's rear. 8 cylinder made for Chevrolet that is.dewey-1 wrote:With that in mind you can go with this analogy:ShowNoMercy wrote:To tell you the truth nope, Im going off a Chevy small block.
Make that Chevy block mounted in a vertical position and see your results.

Where did you get these pictures, they look turned upside down, look at the numbers on the gauge. If this is a inverted mount, What is it on?Spitfire wrote:Oh contrairjrrdw wrote:Not a chance of that working.Spitfire wrote:Mount it upside down. With the shaft horizontal. that way the piston will still get oil.
Hows about this?
Conclusion?
Engines work upside down
Hey, I made my own gokart frame and all. I used a 6.5hp honda engine 4stroke 200cc 6000rpm. Its has a horizontal shaft. I thought about buying a vertical shaft motor as they have more of ehm second hand. But yeah it isnt really an option if you want to keep things simple. I use a centrifugal clutch and a chain drive, no gear box or something. It goes 70km/h and its really awesome to drive in it. I have pictures of the cart on facebook. Ill try and post ehm somewhere else.

I forgot about them, they had to install small windage trays under the crankshaft journals, external oil pumps and a bunch of plumbing. Good find!

Hahaha thanks jrrdw
Oil pumps? not this one, evey 25 flying hours you take the rocker covers off and fill them with new oil. Bunch of plumbing? Not realy.
Pics of the authers engine would actualy help his case?

Not really, the lawnmower engine isn't worth the effort modding it. To many others out there that are more suited for the cart application.
They are cool to look at though.
