Hey Spudders,

I'm not sure if anyone has thought of this idea, but has anyone thought of making a Detachable Portable Air Tank to bring to skirmish battles. Though i have not made any yet, but i'm going to use this for my clouds / vortex. Though you'll probably only get a few seconds of air but it'll be worth it. I'm going to be using a 1.5L-2L chamber.

This is some plans that i have drawn with MS Paint

Image

Anyway I wanted to use this for future portable BBMGs that I'm going to make. I want to give thanks to Antonkoen because of giving me the idea of making a homemade ball valve for an his airgun, but changing it into a portable air tank. I have no idea that it will work, but i'm going to assume that it will :D because it worked with Ant's air gun.

littlebro05, thanks.

i think it would be easyier to use quick disconect valves that they use on air compressors, and just drill and tap the right size hole into some Pressure rated pvc. but other then that its not that bad of an idea for people who wan poratbility.

it is not a ball valve, a ball valve has a hole bored through it and it is turned to allow or block flow, what you have is similar to a poppet valve.

and i think it would be much better to just have blowgun directly to your air chamber a whole lot less unnecessary complication.

But if the blow gun is directly attached to my portable air chamber, wouldn't it defeat the purpose of it being a detachable portable air chamber? because i thought of the idea on the basis of doing wargames with me friends, it be more convenient then carrying a compressor around. (i think so anyway) + i live in aussie land where airsoft is illegal and paintball is extremely expensive (like $150 a game). you can just basically swtich cartridges when u run out of air (unless ur alreadyshot)

Hmm if i use a quick release valve could i attach a floor pump to it?

yes u could attach a floor pump to it if you have a shrader valve or a tire valve in the other end of the chamber.

i live in aussie, as does Carlman (i think, unless he just likes the flag  ) but yes i'm getting back into airsoft, so i'm making a full kit, like paintballers have (the canisters of paintballs around the belt, mine will be air) etc etc

but i need design a rifle, thats powerfull, semi auto (can be bolt action) but thats for another day.

Hey I dont know if you have seen my airguns? But I use 1.5 and 2L bottles and pump ehm up to about 8bars. It works out real well.
I went to the shop today to buy a paintball gun. I figured that a co2 can be pumped up to about 70bars with air once the co2 runs out. Poland spud had this idea of a fridge pump that goes up to 35 bars. That would be awesome if we could build a system to pump up co2 tanks.

Hey Ant i got your idea from using that poppet valve from your the post of "P.2 Simple air gun 1!" for a detachable air tank. the one with the giant ball bearing plus silicon tubing around it for it to be air tight. and the spring is pushing the ball into the hole.

Thrusto... is that a quick release valve attached to the blow gun diagram? sorry for noob questions XS.

I'd use co2 but thats expensive here in australia, air is for free :D.

Yes, on the bowgun is the male connector, and on the chamber that is a female quick release, with the male piece is taken out via a push on the famle button and a pull, it auto shuts of so no air escapes.

and yes CO2 is expensive i ont even know where you can get it.
although i ave seen at bunnings a smallish (2-4L) bulb of CO2 and a regulator and a hoe attached, but it was like $180

Love that design, hate the price lol, i'm trying to keep my guns under $25, or $30'ish at the very max. though if i had the money i would do that, i think my idea is more lighter and versatile, + i can make multiple air tanks to carry around. Of course me any friends are going to play hits and out. and your out for the round.

Do you have any idea how much the male and female connectors cost? because if it costs more then like 5 bucks (i'm asian i'm cheap hehehe), then i'm not going to use it...

well i was at bunnings about 2 hours ago and what not  couldnt resist myself :D

but your going be dissapointed, female connectors are like $8 each (you need a few of them if your having a few detachables)

and the male piece is like $5 only need one of those, which goes onto the bottem of the blow gun.

its totaly worth it, im going to use this idea on an up coming semi/bolt action auto bb rifle design.

FRANK!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

damn, well my idea will still work, but hey thrusto it'll be nice to have detachable air tanks, because i reckon it's less cumbersome to carry. yeah well if your going to make these detachable air tank designs, it'll be awesome for skirmish, plus u'll get like a realistic feel. I hope your air tank works aye. oh yeah what calibre ammo do you use? because when i watched your vid, it looks like the ammo u use, look quite big, atm i'm living off arts and craft beads, but i' think i might of found a source of real airsoft ammo. possibly $5 for 1000

gotta love aussie

Hahahaha just gtta work my funds up to paint/finish up my old rifle, and then ill post up here, re-making a gun atm for a shotgun shell sorta gun, going to be making a semi auto rifle with a built on pump and i dunno about detachable airtanks thats for some later projects.

but what i do know is that the ammo i used was exactly 6mm, it was 6mm christmas decoration beads (on a 24m string) got like 5000 for $3 or something, then i used girls necklass beads (6mm again) but my barrel is about 7.5-8mm ID (inner diameter) OD 10mm (outer diameter)
from bunnings also 1m.

And i also use lead sinkers (not split sinkers) but small ones with a small hole in the middle, fit pefectly in the barrel with approx 0.2mm gap, and sometimes i hammer nails threw the holes witch act as stabalising fins (works best if the nail tip is stuck down barrel first, not other way around) this way it stabalisise it in-flight. They were brought from k-mart.
