Willard, your scoring methed for deeming the winner sounds good, I like it. On that note maby call this contest "The Olympics of Spudding" thus making it a annual contest.
How does that sound to every one else?
Members keeping that in mind, it would be a constent drive for creating new and improved cannons.

Thanks, jrrdw.
We don't have to keep those exact categories, or even award the same amount of points to each- it is very flexible at this stage. We can either set up exact scoring criteria for each point category or just leave it up the mods to award points, based on their own interpretation, as long as they are consistent throughout the scoring of all entries.
I propose the voting to be handled in this manner: A simple poll with all the entries so that the discussion part of the thread can be left open for just that. The thread would be open for one week, at the end of August so that entries can be built throughout the summer. No new entries once the poll starts. During voting, the mods will score each cannon individually (a lot of work.) At the end of the week, the poll ends and the mods can then submit their average scores of the cannons so that the winner and runners-up can be established.
I propose 75% of the pot goes to the winner, 15% to 2nd and 10% go to third. This way there is a chance for more winners and makes more folks happy. In reality, the difference between the top three will be very small indeed; in fact, nearly all cannons entered will be exceptional.
EDIT: I sent $20, plus an extra $5 to cover fees to Pimp.

I like the whole rubric for scoring idea
Although about the "size" section, would that mean if you had a smaller cannon it would get a bad score in that section?
And about the money I promised, I will send it as soon as I set up a paypal account. Which will most likely be this weekend.

yeah size/power sounds good
Damn another contest already. Sounds good, and so does the new scoring method.
Just a quick question,
Just a quick question,
Would this be the same as the other contest where we could use parts from other cannons just not the entire cannon it self?it is PCGUYS official contest..
no existing guns comes in the competition..

So it's a 'build it or don't enter' competition. I like that, it forces new ideas to emerge.

i think it should be POWER in relation to SIZE. that says alot more about your gun than the pure power. if you can get a ton of power out of a small gun (BTB's sawn off for example) IMHO thats more impressive than a huge cannon that you would expect to have a lot of power
Alright three people have sent payments:
Larda - $30
Willarddaniels - $25
Starman - $22 (However your payment is still clearing)
Thanks guys!
Since PC would like to handle the contributions, hold on to any pending payments. I'll need to talk to him about the details. (I don't want to automatically assume that he will accept MO's, etcetera) Hopefully I can get that info by the end of the day.
So I suspect I will be transferring the money into PC's paypal sometime, I plan to contribute some money of my own to foot the PayPal deductions, and to give some money of my own.

Umm guys do NOT send any money. What are you thinking? We are just discussing the possibility of a contest and you start sending money when you don't even know what the contest is, when it is, or if there will even be one? If there is one, it wouldn't be over till many months from now.

PCGuy, yeah- but I have it now and I want the contest, if there is one, to have as much publicity and support as possible. Perhaps this can drive in new members as well.
The last contest had a post quota of sorts. Do we want to do the same thing again? Or a membership date deadline? This way, it can help stop double entries and other unethical behavior.
The size/power would definetly be in relation to each other, and perhaps in a single point area. I just threw that rubic together to get the debating going- I'm glad it did.
