Theres a problem with that? It just makes buying all the more interesting. Also while the entry fee is a good idea to stop shenanigans some of us can't really pay or have paypal (me included :( ) Maybe we could have a spudbux limit on the entrants instead or post limit. Say noone that doesn't have less than 150 posts cant enter.
lol- I just flew to San Francisco and bought a VW bus unseen (I did have pictures though.)

The biggest offense to the post limit last time was that we had a lot of post whores. I think that, in combination with account activation date and small entry fee (mail or paypal) would be fine. If you do not have access to PayPal and cannot find anyone that does, I am sure there are many good-natured spudders who could help you out- but that is a separate issue to be dealt with through PMs.

Seeing as how I got thirty odd somethin’ projects, I think I should be able to get something together for a contest.

$5.00u.s. entry fee would be nice; not to high, not to low.

Do you take cash? :)

Cannoncreator was the post whore that needed 3 members to go to bat for him to get back in the competition last time. I think to be fair if there is going to be a entry fee it has to be open to who ever can pay it, and be a Spudfiles member with no post restrictions. Have a dead line for fee admission, over sea's to be given extra time for the slow boat express to float it across the pond.

Lol, I remember CannonCreator doing that. He ended up being just fine as a member. I remember random people joining and posting crap everywhere. It was pretty lame, and a lot of them figured that nobody would notice because they did it in old threads. Well, dumbass, it shows up on the main page!! Translation: I agree with the no post count limit.

Anyways, I am donating $10, unless somebody says that I should only put in $5. I am not sure yet if I will enter.

Time to continue with the planing of the contest now? :)

At least we waited a full day, huh? I think discussion could begin anew, although it looks as though most of the information has been decided already. All that's left to do is set a date. A front page announcement also wouldn't do any harm.

Has a BBMG ever won a contest? all of the contests that I have seen don't tailor to BBMGs.

Last contest I was all excited for "most innovative" because it got a lot of attention and then it was decided for best cannon on the site. The RC-P240 as cool as it is didnt stand a chance against the expensive guns as always. Atleast with most innovative it had a chance (New Vortex Cap design). I am a BBMG guy and in my opinion I feel the contests are not fair when it comes to BBMGs.

i can see how you think its going to be biased, but it always will. For example, most people are gonna favor the power of pnuematics over the novelty and portability of combustions.

yeah just once I would like to see a contest just for combustions or just for BBMG.

EDIT: Can I just start up a contest for BBMGs for this month. Just a small little contest for all those BBMG fans that never get to win any contest?

It would be like this:

1. Aesthetics 1-25
2. Innovative 1-15
3. Performance 1-20
Max Total: 60pts

A panel of judges would decide the top 5 of the entries nominated and then each member of the site would make a vote post set up something like this:

--------------------------------------------------------
Your Pick: The made up gun of doom

1. Aesthetics - 5
2. Innovative - 10
3. Performance - 15
--------------------------------------------------------

If a person does not post with this format there vote would not count.

The average of each gun would be figured out and it would decide the winner.Oh and another thing, only guns made in the last year can be posted.

I think it's reasonably fair, when NeoSpud made his Ultimate Inlines they were quite something. They would've stood a chance IMO.

I think its time to start the big contest, but i agree that its a good idea to have a contest just for combustion's or BBMG later on.

I want too start building my new launcher soon. :D

I like the idea of having several catagories

combustion/hybrid
pneumatic
airsoft/BB
open technology, electrothermal, coil gun, etc.

and then rank each based on David's suggestion. I think this would encourage more participation and also have more winners in the end.

Just a thought..

Maybe there could be an 'open league', where the prize is the main prize of the competition but if you enter the open league, you can't participate in the small separate leagues based on the cannons properties like 'Combustion, pneumatic, BBMG' etc.

Which would have a small prize for each section. Maybe only $25 if you win your category, but $100 if you win the open category.

How about entering multiple times as long as it's only once per catagory. In other words, one hyperspace . .gun in the open catagory and my latest auto marble pneumatic [yeah right] in the closed pneumatic catagory.

Also instead of a stating a prize now, wait until all the donations and entry fees have been collected and announce.
