wow, that thing looks like a beast! with the hydraulic re-loader and all..
only thing is, it doesn't shoot like a beast. Looks like he's using it at 50-70 psi (lame). I told him on youtube to, "crank that baby to 150+ if your air compressor can handle it". lol
needs paintjob too but man is that a cool looking cannon
good find!

It's not a semi automatic, it's a repeater as the maker said. He's using one blowgun at the back to fire it and another at the front to reload.

must be nice to walk around with a compressor on your backside, don't leave your backyard without one!
spud gunning used to be a minimalist activity. i've seen some real "rube goldberg" spud gun set-ups, dozens of moving parts, no videos of function or damage. i ran one chump of the rube goldberg persuation off of youtube last year (orangetide).
might as well walk around with a heavy cable and use a RAIL GUN.

Yeah I was noticing his velocity wasn't what I would expect. Another foot or so of barrel would really help him out.VH_man wrote:it could easily be automated into semi-auto....
still a nice cannon, however, his chamber is wayyy too big for his barrel..
Still this is really well constructed.
@MrBad: Lots of guys love their pneumatics for backyard fun. Being a combustion guy myself, I agree that having to have a compressor along for serious big bore shooting is a real drag. Also, who declared spudgunning had to be a "minimalist" activity?? It's not Rube Goldberg if all the parts are designed properly and perform a necessary function. I wouldn't put this gun anywhere close to the Rube Goldberg category.
Now, are you saying that because you really are a minimalist who doesn't care about ROF, power, or range, or because you're jealous of those of us with the brains to design and build these "Rube Goldberg" type designs?must be nice to walk around with a compressor on your backside, don't leave your backyard without one!

Spudfiles' resident expert on all things that sail through the air at improbable speeds, trailing an incandescent wake of ionized air, dissociated polymers and metal oxides.
That's sounds pretty boring to me. I like the challenge of building something that does a proper job of whatever it's doing.mrbadexample wrote:spud gunning used to be a minimalist activity.
Sure, I could get a bit of drain pipe and a can of hairspray, but to me, that's not worth building - I want something that means I have to get my brain into action to design and build it.
Really, ultimately, it's what each person makes it. I want my designs to have that element of complexity, so that's what I work towards.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Shame about separate trigger/reloading controls, he should consider the blow-forward bolt
