Hey guys,
Out of curiousity will it have the same ROF and power if I position the vortex upside down? because I've finally given up on clouds since they're performance is to crap for proper skirmishing and the vortex cap design costs like 5 dollars a piece, maybe less.
Here's a pic of what i meant. blue is air, red is barrel.
Here's the vortex cap I've made in half an hour. Had a test shoot and it fired very well for a 10cm tube. The tube isn't in it.
Thanks. Lilbro.

How so? If you want more power/velocity/range, you should look to a longer barrel, greater valve flow, more pressure and a smaller chamber. These are the factors that will affect projectile performance, not the vortex/cloud configuration.littlebro05 wrote:I've finally given up on clouds since they're performance is to crap for proper skirmishing

Oh forget to to tell you I only tested it out of boredom since I didn't have any half decent tubes to stick to gether.
Umm I was gonna put it up side down, with the metal tube sticking out sideways since it's more easier to attach the air inlet that way in an MP5 NAVY toy gun.
And no I was just wondering placing it up side down would it affect it's performance. I'm goign to buy a brakeline barrel for my final build.

placing the air inlet on top will not effect the performance on any noticeable scale.. In fact the only thing I could for-see effecting the performance by doing so would be gravity which would have almost no effect.
BTW your vortex cap looks good.. I'm soo happy to see my design be implemented in soo many projects recently.
Both my vortex cap and my Burst Disk cartridges have begun to pick up some popularity and I hope people keep trying them, So I applaud you for continuing the trend.
Thank you,

Isn't it kind of noname's design?Davidvaini wrote: BTW your vortex cap looks good.. I'm soo happy to see my design be implemented in soo many projects recently.
The upside down block should work, but you may have problems with BBs falling into the barrel prematurely.

no, that is a side strafer that has a vortex block on the bottom.. A vortex cap design is where the chamber itself being a cyilnder tube with a cap at the end of it. The cap itself provides the circular shape for the vortex. So in essence the chamber itself is the vortex block rather than the vortex block being in the chamber. Also A vortex cap is made to illiminate the process of building a block, drilling a vortex hole and then drilling two holes for air inlet at outlet.. This way you only have to drill the two holes because the Cap already provides the cylindrical shape.potatoflinger wrote:Isn't it kind of noname's design?Davidvaini wrote: BTW your vortex cap looks good.. Umm just a question for the vortex cap,
I realised that making a plunger for it maymake the thing jam since there are so many bbs in one spot, I was having a test fire yesterday and it didn't fire properly because there was so many bbs in one spot, any way to fix that?

A Shroud? You mean like a skirt for the vortex? I dunno wouldn't that like make the bbs jam when I add a plunger to it? I might go with a different style but this is another experimental gun now I guess.markfh11q wrote:Do you have a shroud limiting the number of BB's that can enter the vortex?
I'm going with B-Mag style but if not I'm probs going to go with the C / D Mag style.
What happened to A-Mag style? (seriously :S)

yeah that is a problem with B-Mag style.. You have to have a weak enough spring or else it will jam.. I would suggest applying a little bit of epoxy as a shroud.. It would go inside the cap.. It only allows half of the bbs to go into the vortex cap... but once inside you have a full circle for them to move around in..
Think of it like this.. you have a empty jar.. you cut the lid of the jar in half and put only one half on.. thats what you end up with basically.

I think BBs would get stuck behind "the lid".Davidvaini wrote:Think of it like this.. you have a empty jar.. you cut the lid of the jar in half and put only one half on.. thats what you end up with basically.
Perhaps if it had some kind of angle on it so that wasn't possible though...
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I might have to go with D-Mag Style then + I haven't epoxy the aluminium cylinder in yet so it'll only cost me like a dollar to replace it with an elbow.
So I should put a plunger in my gun to help the feeding? I'm using 1mm fence wiring to make my spring, It's not going to be strong but it'll just help to feed that ammo in.

I had a similar problem with an inline vortex block gun I experimented with. I got a few good bursts out of it every now and again, but not much to write home about. I tried all manner of shrouds, but I have a feeling it had more to do with shoddy quality control when I drilled the holes for the (idiotically) 5/16 brakeline barrel. I swear to god, it's like there is no such thing as a tight group with that damn brakeline. The gun was a failure, but hey, at least I have a cool portable backpack tank now.
Completed projects:
CA1 SMSS Basic Inline
CA3 PDAB Airburst Cannon
Current Project: Bolt action rifle (25x140mm + 1in shot)

Hey Seaking9006,
So did you use a 5/16" brakeline barrel? and did the bbs fit very well in it? Because I need to know so I can make my final vortex gun, thanks for the tell, so your inline is abit of a spray and pray?
