I wanted to make a gun that doesn't run off the air compressor so i was looking to try and make something like one of ant's designs with the ball bearing in a cap but i don't have the supplies yet so i went and made a spring airsoft gun.
My first attempt worked but without triggering system so you held the lever back and let go to shoot .
Im starting my second attempt using 3 tubes to allow for lever to return to original position, and allow for easier reliable reloading system.

Hmm if you needed a magazine here's a really simple way of doing it.
That's my original plan of my springer pistol i was going to make
Thats the magazine...
Or basically To make your own magazine you proabbly know how to make a magazine release.
Basically get a flank of wood the same size of each other. Get one plywood and sandwich them together leaving a space between the two flanks. And wolah you have ur magazine slot.
The magazine release is simple. the gold colour bit, picture it as an upside down L and that's what the magazine will catch on.
That's my original plan of my springer pistol i was going to make

yeah i saw that in your topic when i was browsing but one question what keeps the magazine from loading multiple bbs per shot?

Basically from where your barrel meets with the piston plunger setup, you drill or cut a hole in the barrel for where the bbs fall in. What keeps the bbs from not rolling out is the force of the spring pushing up against the bb.
Although you might want to make a simple hopup, look back on the topic and you'll see i-will's post on the hop up... basically a slit with an oring in the slit of the barrel.
Oh btw not sure if you haven't so already but you might want to make another barrel or something...

Not really, usually a springer is designed to shoot one burst of air out and as you can see on the diagram of JSR's theoretically the air will keep the bb down below it.
The point of three tubes are...
1 Outer Tube - Where the piston is kept in place andh elps with it gliding
2 Middle Tube - Is the thing that pulls the O-Ring'd piston back
3. Inner tube - The piston that creates a burst of air to push the bb out.
My designs abit different from yours but the good thing is that after you cock the gun the "lever" goes back into place.
the middle tube has a tube where it pushes and loads one bb like in a commercial springer, except my magazine won't be in the handle of the gun.

No, that's the beauty of the system. The blast of air from your piston (represented by the blue area in the animation) does two things, first of all it shoots the first BB down the barrel. Secondly however, you'll notice that the magazine tube is the same diameter as the barrel, so this means as it effectively acts as a sort of second barrel, with the air trying to push the BBs out of the bottom of the magazine tube.Ryukaji wrote:but once the first bb moves from the loading area wont another one pop in and shoot out too?
As the pressure from the blast reduces after the shot BB leaves the barrel however, the spring returns the BBs upwards leaving a new one in the barrel, and so the cycle continues.

the o-ring hop-up idea is great but if u want accuracy past 20ft it would be ideal to make the hop-up adjustable. this is what worked for me. to do this u only need a small piece of wood, a flat piece of rubber(bike inner tubes work great), a machine screw, a drill, and something to hold it down solid (hose clamps). the screw pushes some rubber through the hole in the barrel and also keeps it sealed. no leaks through the hop-up. the bigger u make the hole, the deeper the hop-up can go. start small. u don't wanna block the bb. a 4mm hole worked great for me.littlebro05 wrote:Although you might want to make a simple hopup, look back on the topic and you'll see i-will's post on the hop up... basically a slit with an oring in the slit of the barrel.[/img]

WHY PAY FOR IT WHEN U CAN MAKE IT?
Ok i understand the 3 tubes now but i waant to keep this gun simple so im just gonna keep it as simply pull back to cock the gun. Maybe after i buy a pack of big springs ill try and make a better gun like a rifle with the 3 tube system. I think i understand now the spring magazine too, but would that need a really weak spring to work?

Yeah keep it simple, I haven't actually made the 3 tube system but I've sure it will work...
