some things really do need to be changed like legalisinig BB and airsoft guns but anyway combustion spud guns fall under class E which puts them with RPG's yes i did say RPG and full auto weapons, .50 cals and even howitzers! i mean come on law makers grow up. Where as ppneumatic spuddys are under class A or .22 rifles bb and airsoft and paintball guns. i would like to hope that illegaly owning a paintball gun would have less of a penalty than illegaly owning an RPG.

i think combustions may be placed under class E because of hybirds, which can potentially have much more power than pneumatics for their size.

Hey guys....bin awhile since i been to visit.. but this has me intreeged again.
Ok BB guns and airsoft are under B class in NSW so they are legal u just have to have a licence. In WA they come under A.
comustion and pnematic come under A. The discripton of an A class weopon as follows.
Any fire arm that uses compressed gass or a spring to fire a projectile.
also expulstion of a gass in the for of an exauste.
however. if the barrel exedes 45mm it comes under an E class. Yes your right its classed as a connon.
Now i dont know why airsoft and BB are in the same class as a shotgun in NSW. But thats the way life is for the time being.
JamesH. Mate i used to live in WA....armadale perth to be exact and i used to fire my cannon in my back yard...just make sure you have cool next door neibours. I never had a problem.
Now funny story......
I have since moved back to NSW and as i make my daily drive I oftern have my spud gun in the boot along with some other fun and games.... now twice i have been pulled over... The first but two male cops. they had a look had a laugh and one admitted to haveing one at home. "Theyre great fun" direct quote.
and time i was pulled over was by two female cops and they where more conserned with the two toy guns i had a plastick half scale AK-47 and pump action shot gun. both made of plastic and with brite orage muzzel tips. She clamed if i pointed that at her in the dark she would shoot me....I laughed at her and said i was ex navy and if she could spot the difference between a real AK-47 or shot gun against a half scale toy even in the dark...she should not be alowed to carry her glock. Whith that she slammed the boot of my car and cofiscated my kids toys.."my son is like be he likes shooty things." Leaving the spud gun in the boot....ok so she took the "toys" they do not fire except to make a bang bang noise. But left the thing behinde that is actuly capable of fireing a projectile?
Now is that rampent stupidity on behalf of the NSW police force or what.
Other wise i Hav had a friend cought being stupid with them and he was fireing upon houses with people in them. all they do is seaze the firearm dismantle it and give it back to you to dispose of. caght a second time and you cop a get it $50 fine.

paint ball guns BBs airsoft require class A and B licence in QLD. same as NSW. i live rite on the border of NSW and QLD so i know both systems.

Combustion cannons "or known by any name": Prohibited Weapon. IE is NOT covered under a class E firearm licence.
Pneumatic launchers: probably considered an airgun, at which point they require a class A firearms licence.
Unknown if you can register homemade cannons.
EDIT: Rang the ACT firearms department this morning to clear up the bit about pneumatic launchers.
Response i got from them was that Spudguns are illegal in all forms.
As an aside, i know with my minimal post count i really have no weight, but would anyone be interested in forming an Australian Spudding Association, or something, to approach government for changes to the laws? As I believe that government would deal more readily with an organization as opposed to individuals.

It is sort of like trying to form an organisation for bank robbers, asking to change the legislation and make bank robbery legal
