Gday folks of spudfiles!!

This is copied from theopia, but i want responses from people i know and love..awwwww :D

I recently purchased a ride on lawnmower frame for $50 it is complete minus engine and bonnet. The frnt left whel is flat but that is of no concern to me. You see the plan is to set it up for offroad, below are some pics but first off specs as it is now.

- 20" tall, 8" wide rear tyres
- Peerless 250 Hydrostatic CVT diff
- Quite high clearance for a mower
- 70 degree steering
- Very sturdy construction, main frame is steel channel.

What i am going to do:

- Intall larger wheels on the front for more clearance of tie rod, leavng the lowest point the diff at a healthy 9", after skid plate prob around 8.5".

- Change the gearing so i get tonnes of power from it the goal is not for speed.

- Install a manual boat trailer winch to rear towball plate for recovery operations.

- Fab up a hood out of sheet metal.

- Fog lights.

Here are some pictures, will update with better ones taken in daytime as it is 12.30 here.

Yes its a bit dirty, but everything is in perfect working order. Ok its orange because the guy i bought it off pained it to use as a sign for his mower shop then the bonnet fell off the table and broke, that was 4 years ago its sat outside since then.

Ok now for the engine. it used to run a Briggs vangard 14hp but it was sold o another bloke 5 years ago... so now im after another ngine for it bigger the better but im looking for anything as a start. prob bike motor when i get bored with he lawnmower sound but for now im sticking with a LM engine.

If anyone has one that they wish to donate or sell to me i would be greatly appreciative.

Anyway, thoughts, comments and sugestions are welcome.

This will be updated as it progresses.

If you want to see what im going for look up offroading or mudding mowers on youtube..

Hooroo

EDIT: I am selling the deck to this mower and my homemade GX160 scooter on ebay to pay for this build, not sure on linkage rules so just search '42" cutting deck' and '160cc scooter' my name is carlman11

Gday guys heres what is posted on heymow.com (lawnmower racing site) aswell as atlma.us (all terrain lawn mower associasion)

as you can see its now an offroad kart!
heymow.com wrote:Gday gents!

This will be my thread for giving you updates on my offroad mower.

First a little background.

About 5 weeks ago i bought a Bolens LTX14 Hydro from a local mower shop for $50 flat. It had no engine or bonnet. You see he was going to mount it on his roof for a sign. So he painted it orange besides the wheels seat and so on. A gust of wind blew the hood off the table and it broke on the floor. So from then on (this was 7 years ago) it sat under a tarp at his place...until i came along! It has the oringinal all trac tyres on it with tiny nubs where the manufactuaring strings were, so not much use.

3 weeks ago i picked up a 13 hp Briggs Diamond I/C flathead without a carb. by phoning tonnes of places i found a carb without a bowl and from there i bought a new bowl.

Stuck her on and she started after jumping her on the mighty camry in about 2 seconds! From there on ive been adding things as i went such as fuel tank (orig 10hp engine side mounted one that i mounted at firewall) as the internal monster of a tank had a bad rotted grommet.

I then purchased a bigger pulley for the engine to get the better tension from stock belt and for a tad more speed.

Im building this for torque rather than speed at the moment, later on the list will be a 5 speed swap then we will see about speed changes.

I had found myself a pretty beat up bonnet but it is of no use to me now as ive stripped her back.

I took all body pannels off and welded the seat in a new position (alot lower).

Added pull start from a trash picked honda gx240 with 2:1 reduction box (seling to gather funds for the machine)

Pictures below are as it stands now.

Immediate things to be done:
-Setup throttle return and mount
-Build mounts for jerry can and toolbox (also providing protction from very fast moving pulleys...)
-new roobar
-new taller front wheels and spindles
-seat belt

haha, I love it. You'll need some ag tires (stands for agricultural) Not sure if you can get them in aus, but we use em here in the us on our farm. They provide really good traction, and will seriously raise up your tractor (assuming you can get some for that kind of tractor). In case they're known by a differant name in aus, they're the ones that have the huge treads, Weve got em on our little Cub Cadet lawn/garden tractor thats just a bit bigger than yours, so I'm geussing you could get some for your ride.
P.S. Roobar! haha, thats hilarious, here we call em bullbars lol.

Not bad at all. Might i suggest steel plate armor and a cannon on top?
