this is my my idea in theory of operation. the air source is controlled by a valve.the valve i am going to need is a smaller sized high pressure solenoid valve. it will be controlled by the guts of a disposable camera. the capacitor in the camera will supply the charge to the solenoid. the capacitor discharges is around 230 volts (all cameras are diff.). this will hopefully be enclosed in a m1a1 carbine look alike that i will build. the part that blows back will be riveted to the bolt of the m1a1 carbine,to give it a blow-back effect. i hope to run it off a regulated co2 source once all the kinks are worked out. it would be attached by a recoil hose.the 6.2 and 5.9 mm tubes i think i can get from a metal supply outlet near me. i want them to be brass. i have found the larger one online,(as a fallback) but still am searching for the 5.9 mm 0.D tube and a small high pressure solenoid switch.in the far future i will control pulses of electricity to the vale with a 555 timer for three round burst and full auto
thank you for looking and please leave any ideas for improvement!

Looks like a homemade pop-off, JSR will come along shortly and comment, also give an unnecessary amount of links to his attempts

Well I think what JSR found was that there wasn't enough flow for much power from the pop off, but if you make a bigger sized one then use a smaller bore then it may be a promising design. What calliber were you planning?

Also, it looks like it will double feed a LOT. more of a vogt pattern, especially if it's spring fed. You need some kind of bolt, dentent, flapper, or something to control the feeding.

jsr had a 1 inch turbo pop off that was poping at like 40ish psi

The reciprocating bolt is quite unnecessary in terms of function as long as you're pulsing the air electronically, unless you want it purely for visual effect. One way to make it serve a useful purpose is to have it in a similar configuration to the one shown below, that way the bolt will block off the magazine, reducing air wastage and preventing double feeds.

That's what I was getting at: reducing double feeds
Do you think the valve will turn into a fart machine? I could see it doing that, but I don't have any experience.

If it is 100% sealed, yesramses wrote:Do you think the valve will turn into a fart machine? I could see it doing that, but I don't have any experience.

True.Very important.
Don't use O-rings on it..And make sure there is some significant difference in exposed area when closed and open.
In other words, seal a smaller hole than your piston diameter.
The piston should be at least twice the size.
This will ensure it gains a LOT of force when it does open so it has enough force to bottom out that spring.
