Vortex gun with a hop up? Vortex block out of steel tubing?

I plan on making an inline vortex gun soon and have some airsoft barrels laying around and was wondering if anyone had a setup where you could use the hopup. I am probably going to try to make the vortex out of steel tubing so if you have any suggestions on making that work please feel free to comment. I can weld and have plenty of tools (we build aluminum and steel boat docks) So any suggestions of buliding one is very helpful
Hop ups are pretty simple you can just drill or file a hole in the top of the barrel and stretch some rubber over it. If you want it to be adjustable just add screw with a bb on the end that you can twist to increase pressure on the spot.

You dont need an actual block, just get a piece of tube and add an inlet and barrel port. I have a hop up on my homemade airsoft gun and it works heaps better than without.

yeah, i figured a nice pipe would work just as well as a block, and im just having trouble with the hopup because i was thinking it might be to close to the pipe to get a screw in there. And from what ive read, the brake pipe has to much blowby so i wouldnt really need to drill a hole unless im wrong, and i thought hopups were suppose to be a the bottom. So im really not sure if my facts are correct, this will be my first homemade gun so you guys are the experts not me haha

No the hop up goes on top so it makes top spin; hop up on the bottom you cause a dropping shot.

The hole in which the rubber is compressed is on top of the barrel, though.

The rubber needs to engage the bb at the top of the barrel so it can give it spin in the proper direction.
You can make your vortex out of a slice of tubing. The reason people normally do it from blocks is that it's easier to connect your inlet and outlet pipes.

Would someone mind describing exacly what a hop up is? Is it just something for the ball or ammo to hit to make it jump or hop up to give it spin?? I have searched and could find no info!! Thanks!!

Oh ok, so would threading the hole and putting a piece of pipe through it and the barrel attaching to it work? And can the pipe be sticking inside the vortex?

Actually, it can stick into the "Vortex ring"..... this will however leave you with a cloud chamber, that has a barrel obstruction...aka it will fire like crap.Crna Legija wrote:no it needs to be flush on the inside of the blocksgtryan1245 wrote: And can the pipe be sticking inside the vortex?

looks amazing, very well done. How many bb can that beast hold and what are you using to feed it air?
