a supah valve is the best when it comes to pneumatic valves, joel suprise sells them, he owns and operates http://www.spudtech.com joel wont tell people how a supah works, but its got the quick opening of a diaphragm valve with the full flow of a piston valve. it requires alot of machining, so even if you knew how they worked you couldnt build one without alot of access to tools. it takes joel 118 minutes to put one together. he is working on the megah valve which uses a 4" tee with 3" openings instead of the supah's 3" tee with 2" openings, but he's not selling them to the public yet

actually my friends and i have successfully built a pneumatic valve bigger (and better) than the supah with a 4" tee and 3" openings

Your valve is certainly nice, but is not necessarily "better" than the supah valve. The creator of the supah valve uses all quality parts, has no primer stains, and modifies parts for better aesthetic value. You have used unpressure-rated components (that tee, the cleanout adapter, the cleanout cap, the coupler, and the bushing).

BTW: Many people have built valves larger than the supah valve; making them as well constructed as the supah valve is the real challenge

I am one of the friends who worked on this valve, and while i won't claim that it is better, i will say that i think it is just as effective as the Supah. As to the use of non-pressure rated fittings, most of it is double walled, but i won't make other excuses for that. And the primer stains will soon be covered with paint. These photos are about 4-5 months old as well. One more question: how can you tell that the bushing isn't pressure rated?

The tee is not pressure-rated, and therefore has very shallow sockets. I can tell that that bushing is non-pressure-rated because it fits into the shallow socket of the tee flushly; if the bushing was pressure rated, it would have a longer pipe part that glues into the tee, and therefore would stick out a bit

ah, well maybe its not, but we were still able to launch a 24 oz soda bottle full of water about a quarter of a mile at 100 psi

well we'll have to take pics next time we fire it, its a pretty powerful machine, even though the valves we made ren't pressure rated... however, the whole thing is double walled with sched. 40 pvc so it has some pressure rating to it. the only thing that isn't is the bushings and the tee (which is double walled) so it is of no concern to me. We have had no problem with the function of the valve so far, only the recoil of the cannon firing was our difficulty, and we fixed that by building a recoil system. it may sound crazy, but it works extreamly well.

As soon as we finish painting and testing this gun, it will be entered in the showcase contest, and you will be able to see the entire thing. Until then, doubt all you want, but this thing is extremely powerful and is not to be taken lightly. The 1/4 mile shot was verified with a laser rangefinder, but hey, how accurate can that be?
