I have (had) a bike pump that had a presta attachment, since I own a bike that has presta tire valves. On the connection, there's one for schrader valves and one for presta. Does that design suffer from the adapter problem?

The bike pump I currently use has something like an adjustable detent that clamps onto either a presta or schrader valve, but it hasn't had any seal damage after being unattached and reattached a great many times.

No, they should be fine. It's only the screw-on adapters I've got, which require a tight O-ring to be pushed over the threads each time it's used.

Some mixed results:

fill rig - win! - no leaks, cartridge held pressure beautifully. Still a bit fiddly but it can be refined.

ignition - fail! - click click click... and I think I know why, might have missed an obvious short point with the retaining pins...

There has to be, otherwise you can't push the pins in far enough to free the plug... going to try with some delrin plugs, which will probably shear if I'm lucky enough to get it to work

Here it is, closed and open. The schrader fitting is from my original fill rig, now permanently epoxied in place.

I don't follow why you're using pins

If it needs to be flush then grub screws or even countersunk screws will be usable.

Of course the delrin pins sheared as predicted and the end plug blew out, but on the plus side:

- the fill rig worked perfectly

- the detent sealed and held pressure, then released the projectile in spite of the end plug blowout.

Good result in my book now to refine it, I have some ideas to scribble.
