Yeah in oz all the parts I can get (where I live anyway) are all pressure rated iplex upvc which are fairly expensive. And just some advice when people mention the names of shops and stores just remember that alot of people aren't from the US here and never heard of any of them let alone have any use in knowing to get parts from there...

Did you try holding your breath? How about laying on the floor and kicking your feet and hitting the floor with your fist? Or screaming at the top of your lungs as long as you can? If you try any of my sagestions, please for the love of god video tape it so the rest of us can see. Please.

Just pull the education card on them. Tell them that you are learning about projectile motion in science and you are very intrested in it so you want to make a spudgun to do some experiment with it. It will work

I think it just depends entirely on your Parents, my parents were all for me experimenting with Pyrotechnics and all sorts. I eventually grew out of it, like after 2 years....One of the reasons that they let me do it was because my dad used to have fun with Nitrogen Triodide when he was quite young, and he once spent the night in prison for putting 2kg of gunpowder down a fox hole on the village common. My mum used to watch her brother make and detonate pyrotechnics, so they thought it would be fun for me to learn about them. Well, spudguns are a hell of a lot less dangerous than Pyrotechnics, so you can imagine the reaction from my Mum and Dad...."Hell yeah, make me the worlds best spudgun, lets go out to B and Q and get you the parts right away". My Mum and Dad are the best :D. Check out my site to see my latest Pyrotechnic Antics...... http://www.DrMax.piczo.com (am i allowed to put this link here?)

Stress safety. Ask them if you can build one, and then have them go with you when you shoot it. Eventually they will either get bored, or see that you are being responsible, and let you go off on your own. I just kinda come home one day and said "I'm making a potato gun". My mom was thinking of something small that actually looks like a gun, and shoots potato peices a couple feet..So she was a little shocked when I showed her the 6 foot long "cannon" :D . She also happened to be with me the first time I shot it(Little nervous..Didn't want anything to go wrong), and she couldn't stop laughing after the first shot.
