I wish I had that two days ago Isn't it kinda big trough? I'm not keen on pneumatics, but can it be done as a low tech, low cost bust disc pneumatic? It can be powered with a chemical reaction like CuSO4+2NaHCO3=>Cu2O+Na2SO4+2CO2. Or commercial CO2. And in steel piping I guess it can operate at very high pressures.

My knife setup in this case is a hybrid, no reason why you shouldn't be able to do something similar with your insane N2O/MeOH mix in a tube and get close levels of power - after all, you just need a tube with a diameter close to the knife handle closed at one end.
Also, for some meaningful testing I don't think a trunk is a consistent enough target, maybe some more uniform planks of wood or metal sheets would be better.

No atmospheric pressure mixture can come close to 6x hybrid, not to mention 10x. I like low tech. things a lot and maybe will never be able to make nice ballistic knife. I can however make fun mini hybrids with coke bottles. The irony, make a hybrid with the same thing guys like lucky13 makes burst disks of
In my video the trunk is the most dependable thing The projectile was refurbished, old and unsuccessful that was made to last only one shot. The mixture was an old MeOH/N2O containing, that I refreshed with some propane and oxygen. The for the bow I used non optimal training arrow. I didn't measure the pistol penetration(should be around 8"). But you don't need accuracy to get the idea-spudguns can be very strong.

Brian, as long as no indication of how to make the powder burner was given or the composition used, surely this link could have been allowed?
A small coke-bottle hybrid at low mix should be enough to throw a large heavy knife with enough force for some impressive penetration...

I didn't mean as a knife launcher. I meant as an affordable hybrid concept, witch is actually quite strong. I have some old posts of coke bottle hybrid in this forum.

It's clearly homemade and compared to a spudgun.
A question of time before someone starts asking, in here or through PM,
how it's done.
I take no chances when it comes to protecting irresponsable and ignorant individuals from themselves and our community from their stupidity.
"Why go out and buy safe materials when you've got a piece of thinwalled pipe laying around...wow ...that worked well...let's try more!"
Then ..wait for the family of the "victim" to sew SF for providing the info and after the website is closed down we've all got time to get into ...flowerarrangments..?
You're right: it could be allowed, but I'd rather keep everybody safe.
It takes skill and a fair amount of common sense to build our launchers.
When a noob is interested in more power, he ( or she) is likely to seek our help and will be warned and instructed properly.
It's hard enough to keep people from endangering themselves and others as it is.
Powderburners on the other hand are fairly simple while the forces involved are easily underestimated.
