You could build a mini over under pneumatic with a small soft ammo like, the foam those "noodle" water toys are made, of to launch the chute. having the chute already opened would probably work best though. i personally would build a glider style chute. that stlye chute would give you the much greater hang time your lokking for. if you jumping from a bridge(if its big enough) you could have two friends through the chute up like a kite as you run to jump off.

ok since everyone is ignoring the question I will help you out. If the parachute is packed pretty tight then you shouldn't need that much pressure to shoot it out. I would just basically use the same thing as a pnuematic potato cannon. Just fill up a pvc chamber with air from an air compressor or a CO2 tank(doesn't really matter) and just have a ball valve. The only problem is you would have to reach back to open the ball valve. It shouldn't really be that hard just you might want to consider what would happen if your parachute worked and took you off to the side. Since its homemade (I'm assuming) it might not fly straight.

Look man, a 50 foot jump into the water is going to feel like your hitting solid concret, and thats no joke!!! When you get up there and look down, your gonna relize what a dumb idea this really is, 50 foot = 5 stories, your gonna break something like yourself, it's a really dumb idea. I hope you didn't try it allready, this was posted like a month ago.

You've done it before without a parachute? Man I bet that was a RUSH! Anyway, perhaps you could make a zip line-ish thing? A framed parachute, almost like a hang glider, might be better. You could make a kite-like frame out of ABS and tarps.

The problem is no one is answering his question. He just wants to know how to get the parachute out of the PVC tube.
