Oh come one it doesnt look that bad, my camera wont take good photo's up close so that's the best I can get.
If I had an arc welder or something i would have welded it but there is no other way I could have done this. I would advise against anyone doing this in future, it would be far easier to drill out the current threads on a pb tank and tap new ones.

I would personally think it was a bit too brittle for that kind of thing. Would it crack if the quick release was fixed to a cannon and the paintball tank took a knock? That kind of thing would put stress on the connecting fittings and if it's too brittle then it will crack instead of flexing a little as metal would.
