I'm not kidding, this stuff is the perfect size and weight for a 3/4". It's really cheap too. You can get it at like Costco or Sam's for a few bucks. Or you can order it off Oriental Trading Company, it's $3.99 for 120 pieces (if you order the stupid Valentines ones).

Perfect size for what?

...and are you talking about the chewing gum or something else?

Sorry, forgot to state the size. I'm kinda new to making spud guns, my current gun has a SCHD40 3/4 inch (19mm) barrel. It's the chewing gum, not anything else. The stuff fits 3/4" barrels perfectly, and a giant tub is only a few bucks, so it's one of my main types of ammo.

if you put a small nail through it and out the other end it would make it more accurat because it would have a counter weight and would be heavyer but sounds good.

by the way welcome and we would like to see your gun posted

Thats a funny idea. (i'm sorry)

I would have never thought to shoot gum out of 3/4 but i have shot linkin logs out of 3/4. I guess its not that weird.

Thanks guys, I'm glad that people here are actually nice to the new guy (that doesn't happen in a lot of oter forums). I'll post the gun later today, but I'll tell you a little about it right now. It's breech loaded, fired with a ball valve, and it uses screw-on barrels/muzzles. Currently I only have two attatchments, a 3/4" barrel, and a 2" muzzle (though it's a little larger than 2", it's a piece to connect two pipes). The 2" fires tennis balls, but they don't go too far.

Also, guys, I have 1 more type of ammo for 3/4". I found an ice cube tray lying around in my house, but what it makes are not cubes, but cylinders. Those cylinders fit PERFECTLY in my breech. Tell me what you think of that one, too. It's the cheapest ammunition ever (other than air, but that doesn't count).

custom ice slugs work very well for just about any gun you can get. the only problem is how easily they break and more oftain than not they will break and not the intended target

Yeah, well I have a super-cold freezer, so these things get rock solid. They work pretty well, just for them to be hard enough you have to thaw them a little to get 'em out of the mold, then you have to put them all back in the freezer...

Also you can put salt in the ice while it freezing. It makes them colder, but can also be used a a prank for putting ice in soemones drink. (salty drink).

lol, good idea, I'll try that. I'm going out to the mall today, they might have some other things I could shoot, then I could post about those. I'll also try the salted ice prank.

Mix water with sawdust and freeze it to form pycrete. It is much, much stronger than plain ol' frozen water. Just search for it on google to find how much sawdust to add and such.

Everything taken from Wikipedia.

Pykrete is a composite material made of approximately 14% sawdust and 86% ice by weight. Pykrete has some interesting properties, notably its relatively slow melting rate (due to low thermal conductivity), and its vastly improved strength and toughness over pure ice, actually closer to concrete. Pykrete has a crush resistance of greater than 21 megapascals (3,000 psi) so a 25 mm (1 in) column could support the weight of a typical car. If a .303 caliber bullet is fired at the pykrete, it will penetrate only 16 cm (6.5 in).

Image

The above image shows a one inch thick 50% mixture (by volume using shredded wood mulch) hit by a single 7.62 x 39 mm rifle round fired from 30 feet which bounced off the surface. It took an additional 15 rounds of .223 fired from 15 feet to crack the block.

Pykrete can be easily formed using water and any porous and fibrous material, such as shredded paper or sawdust. Anything that can be molded with this wet pulp will freeze and become strong and non brittle.
