I'm agreeing with PCguy here, ninja seems to be rather ignorant and careless.

Ignorant:
Amused by pressure devices, calls a sythesis a "recipe", fails to realize that that purple smoke (iodine vapor) is poisonous, salvages materials from sparklers, WAY overstates the sensitivity of nitroglycerine.

Careless:
Has no regard for shrapnel, has no respect for HEs.
I used to be overly brash too... 'till I had an experience with ~3 grams of *chemical* packed into a pen tube and placed in a water-filled soda can. My ears rang for a week, my right lense from my glasses was nocked out of the frame and bruised my eye (recovered), and I had varius superficial wounds on my hands and face... all because of a make-shit fuse. It's electric ignition from the end of 50' of speaker wire from now on.

some days when me and my friends are bored, we take just a normal tin can, and hammer/drill a hole in it the same diameter as a firecracker. Then you stick one in the hole, and put the can in a bucket with about 1-2 inches of water, depending on the can size. Then you just light the fuse, and the can gets shot up Waaaaaayyyyyy high! :D
it's fun

i live in australia in sydeny and have done the whole fire works thing and i know were to get potasium nitrate and all that but whats easier to get and funner to use than gun powder is zinc dust that you can get at any powdered metal company and sulfur you can get at places for horses or at a shop called elders together there quite a powerful mix and when lit make a green flash and when you contain them they make a decent bang.
but i dont suggest useing it like that because they just braught out a new law that you get fined $1000 for making fire works and 27k if your caught buying or selling so be careful and have fun and the fine only applies to australia.

hi, i have made many types of bombs, match head, sparklers, black powder, magnesam, aluminum powder, gas (liquid and vapor), rocket propelled, trip trigger, remote trigger, by far the most powerfull i will not mentchion due to people will try it for themselfs, i only reply to this to impress the need for safty, i still have all my fingers, but 3 of my close friends dont, and 1 of them is dead, only because he did not pay enough attention to safty, i miss him very much, i know him since i was very young, please be safe no matter what you think up or try, good luck be safe!

well not a bomb but a good rocket to stick on the back of a toy car
get a metal tube about a inch thick and 6 inchs long then make a nozzle out of clay in one end and find a cork that fits very tighly in the tube fill the tube with crushed up sparkler powder put the cork in the end really tightly and tape it there put a fuse in through the hole in the nozzle an vola you have a very nice little rocket that wont shoot up in to the sky (to weak for that) but will propelle a toy car or its self along the ground. 8)
also i forgot to mention if you do get zinc dust and sulpher you can add a little bit of pottasiun nitrate to the mix to make it slower burning and a rocket fuel but if you dont get the nozzle size right with that mix it may go bang :D

This is all fun and games, but remember: Accidents do happen even under the most carefull planning. And people do get hurt.

And as a side note: Just about everyone has put their two cents in about safety. Thats great, beacuse homemade "incendiary devices" are dangerous. Also, it is usually illegal to do construct the afore mentioned items...as 4 of my friends and myself found out. After a Class III Felony and a two night stay in jail on a $25,000 bond, I am done with the homemade pyrotechnics.

I'm all for having a good time, but keep in mind the risks and concequences...

guys i am going to be a pyrotecnic engier(sp) and to do that i need a pyrotecnic licence i have been doing reserch and if you realy want to mess around with home made fireworks get a licence. whith a licence you can make fireworks at home depending on your level that the inspectors give you so if you are a real pyro head do some recerch and get legal so you don't get busted like Lucas_Pukas above me
