Haha ya, I though about adding a barrel support, I'm still not sure what I am going to use, but I will definetly make one.SpudBlaster15 wrote:This gun looks very nice. I do have a few suggestions, however.
1) Add a barrel support (or 2, which would be the better option) to prevent the long barrel from flexing upward and snapping the elbows off upon firing. Adding a ring support would allow the barrel to be slid forward and ammo breech loaded without detaching the whole thing.
2) Cam locks or a union for breech loading.
3) The 1.25" vent valve seems a little small, you might want to use a larger ball valve.
Other than that, I like it.
And as for the ball valve I only had 6$ left in my gun fund so I got the best I could.
And a question, How did you mount your ball valve on your cannon?
PM it to me if you can

Flush bushing, it looks like for vent valve. That's what I did ,makes for solid
end for gun. Clean out caps can be a pain/weak link.
No, not sure now about vent end of gun.( Just looked again )
Any way , barrel support. Since you have a vent like mine, It could be done
the same way I did.<img src="http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o12/ ... G_0249.jpg" border="0">
That is 6"x1/2" iron nipple between two fittings. The fittings are ground out on the inside to slide over barrel and stub on valve. The fittings are 2"x2"x1/2" 1 1/2"x1 1/2"x1/2"
My support works real well. It slides on easily but does'nt twist.
Nice gun you have there!

Ya, as soon as my dad gets home I get test it.
I am actually hoping the cleanount will blow, so I can sucker him in to buy me a 2" ball valve and a 4" by 2" threaded bushing for the cleanest look ever.
And as for a barrel support, I might do one similiar to your except I don't have cam locks:(

Oh god, I went to install a camping fan today, And it was a disaster
I ended up ruining 2 fans.
So I think sometime next weekend I'll go out and by a computer fan and install that,

The fans were fine, but I broke them, trying to mount them.SpudBlaster15 wrote:I am going to assume that you overloaded the fans with voltage and/or current. In my experience, those fans cannot handle more than 4 AA batteries for extended periods of time. Anything with a higher voltage or current output, and you will fry the fan.
Personally, I prefer computer fans, simply because they have contained blades, and are already pre-wired to be switched on and off from outside the chamber. With the right power supply, they will perform just as well as a camping fan.
I suggest a 60mm size fan, because when used in a 4" chamber, they seem to mix the air and fuel quicker than an 80mm fan due to the greater potential to flow air around themselves.
And thanks for the size, but how well does 60mm fit in sch-40? I have sch-80 so trimming isn't that big of deal.
