How much does the volume of compressed air released from the air pipe into the barrel affect the muzzle velocity of the projectile? Does modifying the valve have a more profound effect?
In other words.... which will produce the largest increase in power: making the air pipe longer/wider or modifying a stock valve?
effect of volume of compressed air released
depending on the size of your chamber to start off you would be much better with a 8' long 4"chanmber with a 1" ball valve than a 2' long 2" chamber and a modded sprinkler or piston/diphragm, so yes, making your chamber alot bigger will increase performance better than modding the valve, my opinion, do both.

I would have though that making the chamber bigger wouldnt make much difference at the same PSI because the valve can still only let out so much at a time, right? I mean, the projectile will be out of the barrel by the time all the air gets out of the chamber. So I guess what I think is, making the chamber bigger would help to an extent
After reading cardinals' post, it occured to me that it might be like combustion guns. I'm beginning to think that the ideal chamber size is such that it releases air, thereby increasing pressure in the barrel and accelerating the projectile, until the point of negative return (the point when barrel pressure begins to decrease), which should be when the projectile leaves the muzzle.
It took me ten minutes to type that. It's very hard to explain for me.

um, sure, whatever you say boss
you kind of lost me for a while there, but I think I get what you are saying. It is pretty much what I said, I think.

Wheather you'll get more power from a better valve or a bigger chamber is going to depend apon the mass of the projectile, among other things. You'll probaly have to check it on a case-by-case bassis using the GGDT.
