First mini

Miniature guns are novelty custom, unique, and sometime downright crude! Common construction materials often include pill bottles or pens. Show us your work!

I just woke up one day about a week ago and thought "hey, I think I'll make a mini," and, half an hour later I ended up with this.
I've made guns before but they were all hose-clamps-and-duct-tape pneumatics (they did work well though), so this is technically my first combustion too.

The barrel is really a piece of hula-hoop that just happens to be the right diameter for marbles, and the chamber is a 24 cubic inch parsley canister.
I put a refillable butane container in the handle so I can just press a button on the back to inject gas.
The handle also opens and the spark unit can be popped out easily when it dies.

I haven't really tested it for range and velocity yet. Marbles generaly don't go through drywall, but ball bearings and AA batterys will punch holes in it easily.

Comments are welcome.

>Update 3-11-07:
Gun blew up, result of tight fitting marble+perfect mix+weak spot formed in the front of the chamber. Gave a nice bang and the scope popped off, which was kinda funny.
I'll repair it once I find another parsley container.

I agree with the comments above me.
Great idea with the hula hoop tube, that thing would look awesome with a silencer.

Thank you all for the positive comments. I look forward to posting more cannons when spring comes around(I'm pretty much stuck with small indoors stuff over the winter).
I might try making a mini hybrid from some steel pipe I have laying around over the next month or so. I'm trying to get acquainted with all types of cannons before I start building big.

Indeed, post the hybrd if you make it. I want to make a mini steel hybrid as well. I hate being stuck inside too.

If the mix is just right with a heavy projectile it has a nice recoil but not enough to be proud of :)
The gun is only 6 ounces (170 grams).

I don't mind at all... post it if you build it.
For the ignition picture I clamped the gun in a vice and used the shutter speed adjustment on my digital camera to keep the shutter open while the butane burned.
