Could you make a combustion cannon out of cardboard tubing?
I have about 1ft of 4mm thick 85mm cardboard tubing and about 2 and 1/2 ft of 1mm thick 50mm tubing.
Do you rekon i would be able to make a combustion cannon out of this or do you rekon its to weak, to be honest i don't give a damn if it breaks because its not like i'm going to get carboard shrapnel in my hand
The main problem i am facing is how to attach the barrel to the chamber and how to make a cap for the end of the chamber...
Anybody got any ideas?
Here are a few pics showing what im working with:

If its any good itll only be strong enough for a few shots i would guess, then it would fall apart. in my experience, cardboard doesnt like flame.
Well firework tubes are made of cardboard.
Low power combustion shouldn't do anything much to thick cardboard tubing considering some of the random crap other people have made combustions with but just don't try to make a pneumatic with it.
Any kind of strong glue should work as long as you have a decent surface area to glue together. You'd need something to bulk out the size of the barrel to fit in the chamber...
A wooden plug and a wooden bushing could work. As the wood is porous it will bond to the cardboard pretty well.
Use remote ignition and don't let it get wet (no potatos)

Could you explain the bulking out the barrel in a bit more detail with a diagram if you can be botheredHotwired wrote: You'd need something to bulk out the size of the barrel to fit in the chamber...

Nah, can't be bothered with remote ignition will just take the risk even if it does disintegrates it wouldn't do me too much damage.
Thanks for the advice

That might not be thick enough, but if you want to you could go to just about any carpet store, and I bet that they would be glad to give you some carpet roll tubes for free. They are a little bit thicker than what you have, but what you have might work.

how to attatch the barrel to the chamber:
get a roll of duct tape. start wrapping one end of the barrel peice in tape untill the bottom is wide enough to fit tightly inside the chamber peice. apply superglue and enjoy....
and im not kidding. thats how i made the barrel sheath on the barret 14mm, and how i made multiple mini's. heck i even did that for an airsoft gun silencer......................
for the endcap, i dont really know.... sorry.........

Some are made of catdboard, the stuff I shoot off is fiberglass. Cardboard isn't too strong.Hotwired wrote:Well firework tubes are made of cardboard.

I'm gonna give you the almighty answer to every question... It depends. Some cardboard parts are made to disentegrate, some are made to stay together for a while. It all depends on what its' made for. You can't just ask if cardboard will work, most people will think cardboard box type cardboard. I think the stuff they use for the fireworks tubes is 4 mm-ish.
