Best way to clean pvc?

Im trying to clean some stains off the pvc I just bought and was wondering, other than painting, what is the best way to make your pipe and fittings nice? I've tried some scotch-brite sponges and the hose but have really done nothing. I was thinking of trying maybe some lacquer thinner or some denatured alcohol. What have you guys used?

I just use sandpaper and it seems to work fine for me.

go to the home depot or lowes near you house and go look near the PVC glue, there should be a yellow can that is labeled PVC Cleaner, that works really well, i use it to remove the print from the pipe for a clean white look. If its scuffs your trying to remove try putting the cleaner on the spot then rubbing it off with a tennisball.

i was thinking about sandpaper but 11 feet of 4 inch is a lot of sanding haha. im going to home depot tomorrow so i will have to look at that pvc cleaner. is it pricey? also, will one can clean all my pipe?

Yeah, it should i have been using the same can, one of the medium ones, for about 6 months now. i think i bought it for 5 dollars, its about the same as a can of glue.

couldnt you just spray it white when you have built the cannon? it would be cheaper.

Yes, you could, but i think this way is easier, because i have a few large cannons, which would require a lot of paint to cover the whole cannon, plus i have to be 18 to buy spray paint, which im not, and i dont have to me 18 to buy PVC glue, pimer, and cleaner.

Edit- Plus spray paint is more expensive than PVC cleaner

I just wouldnt go threw the trouble, an if i did, might as well go the extra mile and give it a nice paint job. thats just my opinion though.

Get a can of carberatur cleaner. Just spray a little on a paper towel and use that to clean the PVC. Personally, I like Gunk brand, but any will do. It has acetone and MEK in it, which will remove the lettering on the PVC but not damage or take away the glossy finish.

I use 220 grit sandpaper and 000 steel wool. It shines up better than new. (I paint the body of my guns but I've quit painting barrels. They scuff up way too easy.)

I use denatured alcohol. It generally takes off surface blemishes, but you will have to take out scuff marks with fine steel wool. I generally use the steel wool by itself, no prior sanding.

You shouldn't sand it. The scratches it leaves behind can then trap crap which means you have to keep cleaning it (that's why professional PVC cleaners say they don't scratch the surface on the bottle).

i have some carb cleaner, and some denatured alcohol around the garage. ill give them a try this afternoon when it cools down. i just dont want it eat away at my pipe

All I do is use the brush to put some on a paper towel, then rub off all the crap and writing. The cleaner actually gives it a better glossy finish than most other things you can use.
