Diagram for my first BBMG - airsoft gun

Noob here... I've been planning a gun that I'm planning to build and the internals are going to be an inline vortex. Picture is attached.

I plan to make the gun out of 3" sch40... and about 6" long.

Now, a few questions...

Has anyone setup one like this that can give tips? I'm thinking I'll need the shroud around the vortex since it's a full one...

If I use wood to cap the ends (will need to be flush, can't use a cap) will that be sufficient?

I have a paintball coil line from my paintball gun that I plan to use... and I think it'll go from the regulator to the solenoid, but has anyone used braided hose before?

Also, any idea how long a 20oz co2 tank might last at 100psi?

Looks good, exept those beverage CO2 regulators dont have very good flow. I suggest getting a paintball regulator or putting a large expantion chainber on the gun.

I think the wood will hold if screwed and epoxyed in place.

Also the filling port must be able to close or the gun will loose presure.

What solinoid are you going to use and where can I find one?

im running a bbmg with a co2 beer regulator and i haven't had any problems, and i bought the cheapest one i could find ($40). it works the same on co2 as it does with my compressor (a 25 gallon). as for how long i a 20oz would last i have no clue im running mine with a 5lb tank. ive played over 10 games (of about 5 rounds each) and gone through over 20,000 bbs and the tank still has pressure (800psi but i need to weigh it to tell how much is left and i don't have a scale). i run mine at around 80-100psi (pressure fluctuates becuase of changing temp). if you cover the wood with epoxy it will be fine (60 minute epoxy none of the 5 minute crap). just wondering why you would use 3" for the body of the gun, most people use 1.5" or 2", wont it be a little bulky? also what benefit would using a solenoid give you, why not a blow gun or pressure washer handle?

hey thanks for the input guys... i have a contact that is supposed to be getting in smaller solenoids and they will let me know when they get them... and i will buy one and try it out.

the reason for the large size and what not is that it's going inside a larger piece... i won't disclose my project yet, cause I was a cool "unveiling"... and yea, the top loading area will be capped off with a bolt.

so use epoxy on all the parts and I'll be fine right? should i combine that with some screws?

as for your 5lb tank lasting that long, that sounds like a good sign that co2 was the way to go for my application. a 20oz co2 should hopefully last a few hours at 100psi.

oh hey, tubro, where did you get your paintball reg and what's it look like (pics)? i don't like how bulky the beer co2 regs are.

maybe you should try and use normal PVC endcaps you dont have to it doesn't really matter alot if its airtight but i thought just using normal endcaps would be easier.Still, would like to see this happen i would never have thought of using a solenoid valve for a bbmg i would only use a blowgun

scrap the solenoid use a blowgun. a solenoid just adds one more thing to go wrong.

are you trying to make a mini gun by chance? what else is that big? a .50 cal?

you should be fine with wood and epoxy, if you ensure that the inner surface of the PVC where the adhesive goes are properly roughened (sandpaper and a file) and clean before gluing.

My first piston launcher used 10mm balsa wood endcaps stuch to the 40mm PVC chamber with Araldite and it went up to 80 psi without failure.

can't. I won't have direct access to the gun while it's needing to be used... thus, i need a solenoid.

Maybe their are some probs with my beverage regulator.
Here is a paintball reg that is resonibly priced and very reliable...

Some kind of sentry turret mounting then, or a vehicle mount?

that is way too expensive... I already have a coil system. I think I've found one that I might get on ebay...
