Yeah you saw rightly that is a propane tank. The cannon has direct propane injection.
It's all a bunch of tree huggin' hippie crap!

No, people do it all the time. You inject the amount of propane that is stoichiometrically equivalent to the amount of oxygen in the air so the combustion is as efficient as possible. If you look at some of the better cannons on here. you'll see that a lot of people do it.

A hybrid has a compressed mixture of the fuel and air in the chamber that is keeping within the 4.2percent propane to air ratio held back by a burst disk. When the mixture is ignited the burst disk ruptures.

Hybrids depend on stoichiometric ratios that allow the propane to combust, just like combustions. The difference is, they store propane and air in stoichiometric proportions, but the pressure is higher. It's like having two or more shots of combustion fuel and air in one chamber. The reason this is used is that the gas particles gain more energy from this mix, and are therefore less limited by the sound barrier. Pneumatics are fundamentally limited by the energy of the gas particles, and since air is relatively heavy, the ability of the particles to move fast is hindered.
To all hybrid builders: Correct my post if it's wrong. I'm just trying to get the general idea across.
