These fans are used in most range hoods: the exhaust fan you would be using to vent the fumes if you used your stove. Unless you used an additional fan, this squirrel cage fan is insufficient to properly vent out the toxic fumes created by the smelting process. ...at least to the point where I would feel comfortable doing this indoors.Kenny_McCormic wrote:ever hear of a squiirel cage fan?it actully has noting to do with squirrels. they are the fans you find in an old furnace and old furnaces people are getting rid of arent hard to come by.willarddaniels wrote:, I don't think you can have a high enough CFM rating on a fan to get all the fumes out.
Really, the type of fan doesn't matter. That is why I mentioned cubic feet per minute (CFM): the unit which is used to compare the cababilities of a fan/motor combination.
If you're 20 and not a liberal, you don't have a heart. If you're 30 and not a Conservative, you don't have a brain.
BIG squirrel cage fans can be had pretty easy, you just gotta know where to look. I have one in my garage right that came out of a furnace. They work very well, and are nice and quiet.
To cast metal, try making sand molds. All you need is sand, oil, and a flask. A flask can be made from scrap wood, like old 1x6s. Google it and you'll find all kinds of stuff on it.

I'm weird, I know it, you don't need to tell me.
