Marbles don't fit in any of my Launchers And anyway i am far to advanced in this hobby to be making a "Marble gun"
Hey, don't diss marbles. Apparently the Russians have a wood/ceramic two shot pistol that is designed to be smuggled through metal detectors, and guess what the use as ammo ;)

A 3/4" barrel should fit marbles pretty well - it's cheap, consistent ammo, nice and dense, quite hardwearing and spherical so ideal for auto feed systems.

But they don't fly straight! Am i mistaken?
Don't they have a tendency to leave the intended "flight path" ?

Edit: The comment on being too advanced for this hobby was purely for jokes.

If they're a tight fit in the barrel, they'll fly very well at realistic spudgun ranges.

Shoot a golfball out of a drainpipe and it's anyone's guess which direction it will fly out of the barrel, but the tighter your barrel is the better your odds are ;)

True, i had never thought of a golf ball compared to a marble
To me at the moment realistic accurate ranges would be- 1 inch target at 30 feet (mini combustion) and 6 inch target at 75 feet (Hybrid).

6" at 75 feet is more than achievable with a pneumatic marble cannon provided your barrel is tight and you have a consistent valve and pressure and some sort of sight.

Well i never realised that, are we talking about 1 shot from a pre adjusted launcher?

Edit: I fire all my rounds line of sight, no cross hairs or aiming sights at all.

Probly explains the forklift.....

To be completly honest i have never fired the 8mm rounds, I do however have a barrel, it is from a whipper snipper, (weed eater) it is plastic on the inside with protruding "fins" that reach out to touch an aluminium sleeve, the inside bore fits 8mm rounds very well but it's only about 600mm in length.

What is the normal purpose of 8mm tube i.e. why do bunning's carry it?

im not sure, but they have angle aluminium, aluminium rod and bigger aluminium tubing.

It cost like $2.50 for a metre of the stuff, then $1.80 for a bag of 20 sinkers that fit perfectly in it. its a good deal heh.

Im starting to cast my own ammo, and i dont have very thick plastic sheeting so ive got an off-cut of 3/4" pipe, and im filling it with hot glue. then im gonna drill an 8mm hole in it and cast mine into that. i will be using hot glue for the ammo aswell. will this work? or will it be to rough after ive drilled through the hot glue.

edit: did you get the taper on the end of your slugs because of the drill bit?

thanks.

No, thankyou :D I did'nt know that Bunnings was that good!
Yes i do get the taper from the angle of the drill bit ( Easily adjusted with a grinding wheel, mine are standard 60 degrees ).
If i were you i would go with aluminium as your mould block, they work 100% better if the mould is pre- heated, not too hot though, ideally it should be close to the temp the glue melts at.
I only got nice hot glue ammo if the mould was heated ( i use bb heads or sinkers).
Good luck :)

i dont have any blocks or stuff of aluminium so that is out of the question. i can get my hot glue to be practically like water, a bit thicker though but it is runny as.

I know that hot glue can be melted water thin however when the glue touches the sinker or bb it solidifies nearly instantly, gives a bad look to the ammo ( they don't fly straight either ). I think you should try making them, i'm just letting you know that "perfect" results are like a "Black art" so to speak. I hope you make make the BOMB ammo dude, after all, whats the use of anything that shoots stuff if you can't hit what you are aiming at? :D

haha yeah, i reckon.

do you have like a block of aluminium with several holes drilled in it? like in a line?
what do you use to lube up the holes?
could i use soething other then alumium? not steel or anything. nothing too expensive.

thanks
edit: have you got any pictures of the ones made from hot glue? if you do could you post them up please
