well you can get a real 68. caliber paintball barrel for a REAL paintball gun on ebay for extremely cheap these days, and at a variety of lengths. Then what you can do is get a 3/4" or 1" peice of pvc and inject something like hotglue or some kind of strong glue that will hold something in place without leaking. You put the barrel in the length of PVC cover both end with painters tape, then balnce it on something like wax paper on a peice of wood, make sure the barrel is staying steading so it comes out pointing stright, then fill up the peice of pvc with the filler around the barrel. Let it dry, then you have yourself a PERFECT paintball barrel that you can even but a 3/4" or 1" male or female adpater on if you would like, or just cement it righ tonto the cannon, although I would reccomend a male or female adpater for maintaincae reasons.
You can also even but detents or a scren so it dosnt fall all the way through the barrel. But often paintballs don't perfect fit in a barrel when you push them down into it, so you may ne a ram rod cover in electric tape or somehting to protect the inside coating of the barrel, or a Battle swab as a ram rod.

Thin wall 1/2" PVC works and you could get it at most hardware stores, but it only fits the smaller .68cal variety of paint balls. 3/4" also works but the fit isn't as tight. Since small paint balls are .68" check the id of the tubing on McMaster to find an good size.

3/4" CTS CPVC Avg ID of .695
1/2" SDR13.5 Avg ID of .696
3/4" SCH120 Avg ID of .690
Those are all great fits. The first two are very common and I know I can get the CPVC at HD, Lowes and Ace. The SDR13.5 is at Ace and one of the other big stores(cant remember which, could be both)

What are the prices on some of those pipes? I am probably going to have to buy them from a plumbing supply store and it will be a bit pricey so I am wondering what I am looking at here.

All those pipes can be found very cheaply. Usually 20' of 3/4" is something like $2.50+tax. So its not that much.
