Portable Strafers!

I was wondering if I could use a particularly cheap gas as the power source for a new airsoft gun. I tried it out last night with my sidestrafer, and it works GREAT!
Want to know the mystery gas? Damn simple, propane! All you need is a propane adapter ($7) and a 1/4" street elbow and you're good to go. Screw the street elbow into the blowgun so it''s pointing backwards, screw in the propane adapter, screw in a propane bottle, and fire away! I arranged the propane tank so that it's similar to a paintball gun's Co2 or HPA tank, and it's comfortable and balanced. Also, unregulated propane is at 80-125 psi, usually, so the ROF and velocity is great,

You probably can't get quite as many shots off as you can with regulated CO2, but's it's one hell of a lot cheaper.

I also did something really cool. I shot for a few seconds, the held a lighter to the tip of the gun. A small 1/2" orange flame went up for about 20 seconds. When firing, it blasts out 1-2 foot long fireballs!

Hows the smell when you fire it?

Pretty bad, now that you mention it...But it's totally worth it anyway! And it doesn't smell as bad if you burn it while shooting.
To people who might say the tank will freeze up: I can spray propane out of a blowgun for over 30 seconds (turned it off because of how much I was wasting) without it frreezing, or without liquid propane entering the gun.

I agree smell and fumes would be an issue but after all, isn't propane what most airsoft guns use? Then again, they're not such "gas guzzlers" either.

I saw the portable cloud, but I think that's a waste. Cloud guns waste too much gas for how many BBs they shoot. I also don't know why his tank froze up while shooting, I've still never had it happen.
I think the propane in airsoft guns in unscented, but I may be wrong.

After researching the properties of Green Gas, it was determined by Carlton Chong of Airsoft Innovations that Green Gas is propane with silicone oil added.

i used propane for a portable air source once to fill up my marble rifle
and it worked really well, the only problem i found is the neck it has on it when you buy it has really bad flow and went slow as

wow nice, how many shots you a tank could give out if you had a 2" 5 foot chamber?

i had a 40cm 1" chamber and iv done maby 25 or so shots and its still a quarter full

Yeah, I've been meaning to try that experament-u2, for quite a while. Though I have never been bothered to hook up a Propane tank to a Schrader valve etc.

doesn't the liquidation of the propane produce a regulator effect on the blowback guns, so all you have to do is avoid firing with the propane upside down or something and allow time for more liquid to vaporize between shots

My blow forward semi is about 5 steps away from being done!
All I have to do is:
Bore out a brass T
Get a barrel
Make/buy a plug for the front of the tube where everything happens
Extend alimunum brakeline from the bolt into the barrel.
