I was wondering why some people use bbq ignitors instead of lantern sparkers. I want to hear your opinion with each....Here's mine:

Lantern sparker
-Good large spark
-Cheap
-Easy installation
-Never misfires
-Works for practically for ever
-Easy to use

BBQ ignitor
-Harder to mount and set-up
-Expensive
-Wears out over time
-Sometimes doesnt fire
-Isnt repairable/must buy a new one
-Electrodes (bolts/screws) could insulate with hairspray after many shots.

BBQ ignitors have more versatility when it comes to the overall look and feel of the cannon. With a lantern sparker, you have to mount it in the chamber, whereas with a BBQ ignitor you can mount it in a handle, parallel to the chamber, in the chamber (not recommended), run it to a remote distance to test cannons for the first time... etc. Of course I perfer stun gun ignition. Much cleaner, more reliable and allows you to make a cool circuit board with electronics to make your gun look more advanced ;)

You forgot to mention you have to replace those tiny ass flint things all the time which takes some major patience.

BBQ sparker is alot better then a latern sparker. Stunguns are obviously the best but are limited due to parents, fear, law, etc.

i prefer the lantern, but it dosent exactly last for ever, you have to replace the flint bout every 350-400 shots. i dont see a big negative, not really expensive unless your buying the one that runs off battieres, if the electrodes get coated with prpelent, just let them air out, or take a lighter to them. What i want to do is buy a electric torch starter (basic-ly a stun gun with less amps), my aunt has one at her jewerly shop, she presses a button, and it sparks between the electrodes like 3-5 times a second, and sounds really cool ( and it dosent tickle when you touch it :o ) i think that would be pretty mean, i took it apart, very simple machine, runs off 2 AA's. yea i agree with talon if you want your gun to look clean a stun gun is a great add on.

Yeah, I would buy a stun gun anyday, if I was that into spudding, but I only shoot <20 shoots a week.

Give me a BBQ igniter anytime. I've used both and the lantern lighter sure
is archaic. I never got many shots out of a flint and the darned things got
gummed up too often. The stun gun works great but just don't get anywhere
near the contacts if you wish to preserve your manhood.
