This little gadget uses electrolysis of water to create hydrogen. It uses regular tap water with a citric acid catalyst. when used "properly" it launches a little plastic rocket some 100 ft into the air. However, the use of electrolysis introduces the possibility of theoretically endless amounts of hydrogen and oxygen production.
Now, I happen to own one of these, and I want to know what I should do with it, because the rocket launching aspect has become quite boring...
Screw it. look it up yourself...

This got me thinking, could you make an airsoft grenade using a small amount of oxygen and hydrogen inside a non lethal container that wont make shrapnel with bb's in it? You should try it with this thing.

What is a "non lethal container" and when has a mix of hydrogen and oxygen (besides water ) been non-dangerous. I don't know but that may fall under the "can't talk about explosives" rule.
Also, what was the thing? I seem to have missed it.

i dont see in problem with the discussion of a hydrogen "cannon" do you?
i mean is not like a canon could be slightly modified and turned into a grenade right? no way you could plug the barrel...
non lethal container = water bottle (assuming your not holding it when it goes off)

The way I read it, it seems as if he wanted to build a grenade, not cannon, but no, I don't see any type of problem with a hydrogen cannon. It would make one helluva pneumatic. If the combustion could be contained good enough, it would make a nice combustion and / or hybrid as well (using the right materials, of course).singularity wrote:i dont see in problem with the discussion of a hydrogen "cannon" do you?

As far as the non-lethal container, if that is the case, then any container could technically be non-lethal.
@shud_be_right: You will probably be better off making some type of pneumatic grenade, for safety purposes, that is.

So it's cool if it blinds them, chops off fingers and/or toes, blows out their eardrums, and gives them 3rd degree burns. Long as it's not lethal...shud_b_rite wrote:This got me thinking, could you make an airsoft grenade using a small amount of oxygen and hydrogen inside a non lethal container that wont make shrapnel with bb's in it? Notice how i used the words "small amount". Ive lit very small hydrogen baloons before and it isnt really that dangerous, we even do it at school in chemistry. Im just saying that if you had a way to house the gas and bb's safely so that only the bb's came out then it could make a nice airsoft mine.
