Because you are only going to be using it for a barrel, I would assume it is okay, but do be careful.

Some inexperienced spudders seem to be biased against ABS because of brutally simplistic and often downright wrong advice that they have heard on other sites.

The only reason for use of PVC is that it is cheaply available and easily found pressure rated. Steel really beats both easily as a chamber material though.
Spudfiles' resident expert on all things that sail through the air at improbable speeds, trailing an incandescent wake of ionized air, dissociated polymers and metal oxides.

Thank a lot for the advice because every where i look it says DO NOT USE ABS, not pressure rated, etc. but since i am very careful with my cannons (not throwing them) the PVC brittleness shouldn't be a problem.

Hmmm....
I'm still selling length's of rated pipe, from about 10yrs ago....
Doesn't seem to be any regulation's in the industry on "life span".
Well atleast my supplier's don't care/not interested...
I'll have to look into this some more...
