im not sure if somebody said this yet but w/e
the shocks for higher end mountain bikes are pressurized with just air-"shock" pumps
Some of the principles from there could be possibly used here as well
For example: they use an air cylinder for compression but i believe they use a spring of some sort for rebound, not sure but someone might wana look into it

ahh mcmaster,
umm isomer, what are you talking about?? yes shock pumps can pump up sispension on bikes. we are building pogo sticks right? it uses essentially the same thing as a shock. theres an air cylinder and that cylinder gets pressurized and it wants to expand, thus forming the up and down motion of a pogo.
only some bikes have springs for the front shock, some have air only, but some have both.

BE CAREFUL!!! One of my best friends died after being injured using one of these pneumatic pogo sticks last month. He was an extreme athlete and in very good shape as well as a very coordinated individual. His injury was caused during a dismount in which a tendon sheared clean off of his kneecap.
Regarding the patent...
An old BMX racing buddy of mine invented a system like this about 15 years ago and marketed them. The patent that was shown is an extension of a former provisional patent which tells me that they have been unsuccessful in receiving a utility patent for any of the design. I don't see my friends patent in the references. I will do some further looking.

lol thanks for the safety concern solar, but im pretty sure we know what we're getting ourselves into. plus, i can only get about 3-4 feet of actual air. so its not like the 7 feet that the commercial pogo's have.
EDIT: new pics.
full shot with paint
Redid the bottom so i can make the piston servicable.
hella sweet foot petals i made, very tacky, no more slipping. very comfy as well
so i blocked ohh tha handle part to get a higher ratio. . its more like 3.3-1 now. . the block is about 1 inch above the schrader valve.

yeah one word of caution, if you're gonna make the handle bars out of pvc, use soemthing to strengthen them cuz one of my handles cracked off when i fell and the pogo stick hit the ground hard.
nice vid HDP, what i see is that your stick has a really slow bounce. wouldnt that hurt your preformance? also, i see that your compression chanber is very long making it easier to hit yourself in the face if you fell wrong..lol
