Working on my first BB/Airsoft gun, i want to create it perfectly. Because most of the gun will be constructed from PVC, i come here to ask whether epoxy or PVC primer+glue would work the best. Which would would be best for bonding down PVC to PVC-I'm sure its primer+glue, but prove me wrong otherwise-, and for bonding PVC to other materials (metal)
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Roughening up the contact areas and using proper epoxy is just as effective, I use such construction techniques up to 400 psi without failure.

Unless there was a crack or it was a bad fitting, it shouldn't of blown if it was pressure rated, used below the rating and the primer and glue were used properly.
For bonding metal + PVC, try using threaded adapters.
But yeah, best stick with PVC glue and primer, make sure the glue is meant for pressure and check with the PVC too.
Also browse the forum for a link to the IPEX solvent welding course, you should try it, so you know what you are doing when it comes to PVC solvent welding. You'll get a free pen and certificate too.

if you do it right it will not fail. i actually had a piston valve "blow up" because i was smart enough to not put a bumper in and the pipe itself failed, but the solvent weld joints were still intact.

Nope, it was 500 PSI rated PVC. The glue came loose on one of the joints while i was aiming.th3p0p0 wrote:why did it blow? did it have DWV on it or what?
