Hmm, I always thought PCGUY actually paid a bit to keep the site up. I never expected that he made money off of it, I mean how could one expect to make money off a site promoting such a little-known and very specific hobby? As for schmanman, I never really had much contact with him, though I'm not terribly active here, especially as of late.

As for the whole IP thing, an IP address is basically like the computers address/name. Spudfiles.com is not actually the address of the site. A DNS server basically "sees" the request for spudfiles.com, and redirects it to the IP address of the computer that actually hosts the site, whatever that address may be.

Now in the case of the school network, I'm not sure if PCGUY got the actual internal IP of the computer, or the IP of the network gateway. IP's would run out fast if every computer had a unique one, so n networks like a school, the router, or server, or whatever is connected directly to the internet, has it's own unique IP. As for the computers within the network, they're assigned an IP by the router/whatever that is used internally.

So PCGUY, did you get the gateway's IP, or the internal IP of the computer?

Their gateway IP, so any computer in the school district can not access SpudFiles. There is no way for anyone (aside from people inside the network) to see their internal IP address. It would be useless anyways, there are specific IP addresses used ONLY for internal IP's. If you have a router at home, it may say your ip is 192.168.x.x but in reality only your computer and your router knows that, nothing else. In fact MANY people use 192.168.x.x addresses as their internal IP address. It's just how the Internet and DHCP work, you can Google about it if your still curious.

Regardless, I am not anti-Schmanman. But since his account was used to reply to crap made by jig-a-whatever just moments after it was posted, then I am forced to ban the account until more proof/convincing happens.
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).

Yea, I didn't think there was a way to get the internal, but I wasn't completely sure. 192.168.100.x is my home's internal scheme. I work in IT, but I don't know everything. Yet... :D

Just trying to give a bit of information that I do know about Ip's and such because someone asked.

The internet sure can be a complicated place to administer justice to those who deserve it.

Indeed it can. That's why so many criminals are turning to crimes on the internet, phishing and the like. Because the internet isn't policed well, and it's harder to find them.

I don't know shcmanman personally, but that just didn't sound like him. Seeing his other posts and the SWAT. My input may not matter, but he always seemed like a good member to me.

What it looks like to me is that schmanman got mad at PCGUY and then he made another account to rant etc... after that to try and cover up his blowing off a (*backspaces little*)... lot of steam he asked his friend to cover for him. I've looked at dippy whatevers posts, and in the past I saw that he and schmanman got in a dispute with some other members. I'm not trying to say anything, but it looks like they're good buddies who could be stirring up trouble. Maybe it's just me but thats what this situation amounts to in my eyes.

just fyi, spudshot is a dead forum. i'm a member there and like the last real post was from like last year.

so ur gonna place the blame on one guy when one ip adress is used by like 4000 people. another thing, schmanman never posted any bad stuff, it was all whats her face. i'm sure that people go on spudfiles all the time in the district.me and him try to get people interested in spud guns all the time. i can say from experiance that schmanman didn't do this. i'm in all of his classes that he would or could use a computer in and he did not do this. no one has come forward and given any hard evidence. he was probably was one at the same time that "emo" was on. unless you are all watching us from satallites, i don't think that you have a GOOD argument. This is just my oppinion though. i'm not the one makin the decisions.

no one thinks ur a sell out PC.

The evidence, for the time being, points to schmanman, he has some connection with what happened.

If he or you, are pissed off at us, take it out on your friend. This is not our problem, but yours.

When things begin to unfold and settle down, more decisions will be made, and chances are shcmanman will be unbanned soon enough.

He's a good guy, welcomed me when I first started out, but for now he just needs to sit this one out and wait for it all to blow over.

Coincidence I don't think so. How is that stretching things? I didn't give him his names, he picked them when he joined, you can't change your name unless pcguy does it as far as I know.
