Well first of all, I didn't say everything I was thinking. If you register with the school and the school does periodic checks, put it on the students campus ID. That's easy. If they don't have it with them, detain them.

As for your thoughts on shooting someone stopping them temporarily, well. One, I don't care how much adrenaline you've got pumping, unless you're on PCP, you're going to feel that shot. And who says I'm going to stop at one shot and let them go. If I'm using my gun, I'm emptying the clip. EVEN IF I don't hit anything lethal, 10 hollowpoint rounds are going to take you down.

We're talking about searing-hot lead a half-inch wide piercing your flesh and fragmenting into dozens of pieces INSIDE YOU. That's going to throw you off with the first shot, giving me the chance to put nine more in before you hit the floor.

1) The primary purpose of a gun is to kill - not what the car is designed for.
2) A speeding car is more noticeable and easier to avoid than a hidden gun.
3) There aren't a lot of car related massacres.

A gun is designed to fire a projectile. What it's aimed at is down to the end user. You could argue that we need cars for modern living, but we don't need guns. What about those who own more than one car for fun? Are you going to ban them because they serve no practical purpose? If we had to go around removing all the things we don't need, life would be very poor indeed.

We don't hear of "car related massacres", but vehicles seem to kill a hell of a lot more people than firearms, statistically speaking it's cars that ought to be heavily regulated, not guns. Hell, even alcohol should be banned, we don't need it and it has no good purpose!

I thought I pointed out that - statistically at least - it turns out it's easier to dodge a bullet it than it is to leap out of the way of a speeding car or liver disease ;p

Personally I would lean towards concealed permits being granted to college kids, it'd make my day to get a nice pistol, however I doubt it will solve the problem. The one mall shooting awhile back was in a state which I believe allowed concealed guns to be brought into the mall, but nobody did anything. My point is, giving someone a gun and training them to use it, wont make them killers and most likely they will hesitate when the time to use it comes. Thats just my thought on the matter.
And there is also a shift in training tactics for SWAT etc, where instead of negiotating etc etc, they just go in guns blazing. The game changed and the people playing it no longer want a helicopter to Mexico, they don't want to live they just want to kill as much as they can.
So its a touchy subject with many different views on it, but on the topic of gun control. If you take my guns away, there is and always will be ways to acquire them.

No, of course not. They'll find a school of younger and unarmed children. Concealed carry will not stop attacks, it will move them on to new targets - and it's quite a morbid fact, but a college student is much more likely to survive being shot than a younger child.

Even if the gunman was suicidal, there is nothing already stopping him from going to a Elementary school, so there is a reason for him going to a University or Highschool instead of a Elementary.

And I doubt that will change, most gunman have lost their marbles, and kill for a reason, not to kill who ever they want, they want to kill these people for a reason.

I doubt they have a grudge against a 6 year old. If you look at most of the killings, the gunman kills at that location for a reason, he probably could find an easier place to kill more people, but he doesn't.

And with the bomb idea, why wouldn't they already use the idea? I am aware that there have been a few cases of gunmen with bombs at schools, but the majority only have guns.

It's not. I don't want a handgun to go chasing after criminals wearing a cape. /sarcasm

I want a gun so I can be able to save my skin in a hairy situation. I want a gun to be able to protect my friends and loved ones. For me, I feel I have an obligation to protect those around me should I have the ability to do so. If I hear shots fired down the hall in my school, I will pull out my gun and cautiously check it out.

Vigilantism to me is looking for trouble. That's not what having a CCW is about. Having a CCW is protection should trouble ever find you. As long as you're reacting to a hostile situation, I think you're fine. It's when you go looking for and/or causing a hostile situation that you're digging yourself a hole.

Granted what you say is true, however, I would just be hesitant to giving CWP to most people. I am wary of people next to me on the range when I go shooting. I don't know them, or how they shoot etc etc. I suppose if a situation did happen it would be nice to have someone stand up and shoot back but I would be very cautious if I went to a school that allowed CWPs. Although I agree with it, I think I would rather see trained guards with high powered rifles and excellent training.
