Hello Spudfiles, I've been getting interested in spud guns for the past couple of weeks now and have frequently come back here for inspiration and design ideas. I've created this account to show off what you guys have helped me build, and eventually contribute to this forum.
Now that thats over, lets look at the spud rifle ^__-
I've designed this to looks something like a hunting rifle. unfortunately I do not live close to any large hardware store chains and have only the resources of those "family owned" type businesses. I was able to scrounge out most of the parts that I needed however I could not find a piece of piping long enough for the barrel.
Here is the original shitty MS Paint design sketch:
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a391/ ... etch-1.png
And here is the (almost final) result with temporary barrel:
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a391/ ... G_0653.jpg
This is what it looks like with the barrel removed:
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a391/ ... G_0654.jpg
The final adjustment that I am hoping to make are as follows:
- find long enough piece of 1/4" pipe to use as a barrel
- Add wooden grip
- Add laser pointer for accuracy
- eventually retrofit for pneumatic use (for more power!)
I'd really like some input! Thanks :3

Very ghetto... I love this. But yah, at the same time, a little too ghetto. Make some small adjustments to make it neat and a paintjob, then, it will be completed. 8)

Haha, thanks spudfarm, I can't argue with that =P
I don't have any damage shots yet, the C:B ratio is all messed up, at the moment it only shoots a nerf dart 80 feet.
I'm going to be headed out to home hardware in a few days to check out what selection they have in 1/4" tubing and hopefully a longer barrel will help with the power. (current barrel size is only about half the black pipe)
edit:
Thanks for the suggestion Sergeant when I head out to home hardware I'll probably grab some spray paint to give it a nice cammo paint job :3

right on man! I love the ghetto! I say duct tape a small piece of pipe on the barrel to make it look like a scope.
haha, but seriously. I think a longer barrel would help. perhaps a copper barrel? They are smoother inside and I dont think it would be hard to find a brass coupling to fit the copper and steel together.

Great suggestion jook! I'll defiantly get some copper as a barrel. thanks a bunch.
Also, I'm pretty sure I have just the right piece of piping in mind to use as a scope ^__-

Well seems like a nice cannon
That huge chunk of steel at the front of your chamber looks quite funny.
Why are you using both pvc and metal, instead of completely metal or pvc?

@ Steel
Not bad. You are losing some punch going around those 90 degree bends to your barrel.
Welcome to Spudfiles!

You can have zero posts and have a picture. All you have to do is upload it. Which I personally am to lazy to do.colty-bear wrote:How the heck did you get a picture with you only being a private
Well back on topic. The gun is ghetto as said above, but nothing a few changes can't fixed. Welcome to Spudfiles!
