Ok, I finally finished my cannon. I am VERY please with the way it turned out for my first cannon. Time to go have some fun!

Beautiful, ECSPECIALLY FOR A FIRST! A quick question though, how is the performance?

I used a rainbird cp-100 rated for 150 psi and the performance with my original 12" air chamber was a flop. I added a 60" air chamber and now it's has plenty of power. That's why it looks kinda like a crossbow. I shoot it at 120 psi.

I wanted to add another color to the pattern but I got tired of tearing all the tape....hahaha. I'm happy with the way it is.

Nice job with the tiger stripes there!

The human ergonomics of shooting it looks like it may be a little challenging with those new "side car" tanks.

I would definately do some things different the next time around, but it's really not that bad. The cannon is only about 26" long so it's easy to handle.

Hey, this thing turned out great! Shoot, for a first cannon, that's something to be proud. Got plans for some other cannons? Lord knows you can't build just one.

Looking forward to seeing some purdy paintjobs in the future

Really nice job with the paint
I really like the cannon but you really need a longer barrel. The difference will be quite noticeable.

I'll try to get some, I can record with my digital camera but I don't know how well it will turn out.

Prep'd for the next coat.

Actually it looks rather interesting with just the blue painters tape. My original paint job only used two colors. This time I will include three. The grey stripes will have black highlights. The third coat will be either red or OD Green. I haven't decided yet. I'm going to lay the black coat down tomorrow.

Looks good so far. Did you tire of the other stripe job you had on there? You mentioned failure....what happened?

The failure description is at the top of page 1 under the 7/25/08 update. The barrel broke off at the valve. When the barrel supports and new pvc to re-attach the barrel itself were added the paint job got messed up.

So i decided to repaint it.

Bummer on the whole barrel breakage thing. Some lessons learned on barrel supports huhhh...

Certainly a lesson well learned. I finally got to test fire it this afternoon. It works great! I got some sweet hang time from a red potato at around 80psi. I also added the black coat. 3/4 of the way through I ran out of paint. I need to make a trip to Wally World tonight to get some more. It's going to look great. I also added a pilot line so I could mount the trigger on the right side. I'll take some more pictures tomorrow of the newly completed build.

This is going to be my last update on this cannon. I beefed up the pilot line and replaced the 55 psi hose with a 200 psi hose. The pilot line could be shorter, but when the cannon was repaired after the barrel snapped off the trigger ended up on the left side. I'm right handed and with the trigger on the left side it was uncomfortable to shoot. So I added a pilot to move the trigger to the right side.

I think the pilot makes it look more interesting.

Here is the new paint job, barrel supports and trigger assembly.
