I work at Paintball Command in Covington, LA. There was a paintball scenario called Pirates: Brethren of the Coast. So of course it is based on pirates and there were row boats, invisible canals, and even pirate ships. My boss had scene my spudguns and wanted me to build some type of cannon that could shoot nerf rockets and was easy to operate. I also had to build two of them. Since it had to be simple and safe I immediately decided on a pneumatic that simply used a 2" ball valve. It has a 2" barrel and chamber with a carry tank beneath it. To fire, a player only had to open one valve to let air in the chamber then open the large valve to fire. I did my best to make it look like a black powder cannon. It really doesn't look like one but it puts the idea in one's head. I also only had three days to do this with school in the way. With some minor set backs they turned out great and everyone loved them. The scenario was a huge success. I made a profit of $200.00 dollars after the cannon cost $180.00 to build.

Below are the pictures of the cannons and the pirate ship props that were their targets.

Whoa. That is awesome! I love the ships! If I had them I would so be a little kid again and put on a pirate costume and pretend I'm the captain of the ship. ARGH!

Yeah man, the theme is awesome and the cannons kick ass. With only 3 days, you have out-done yourself. :notworthy:

I don't have anything against your cannons and wouldn't change a thing about them, but I do have one important question..

If you wanted it to mimic a "pirate cannon" (appearance), why wouldn't you make a straight design instead of the over-under design? Like possibly a coaxal. Just curious...

Again, they turned out awesome! Nice work

It is an in-line design, notice the large ball valve ahead of the chamber and behind the barrel. It just looks like an over-under design because of the carry tank. I wanted it to have straight look to it but the tank had to go somewhere and I did not have time to do anything fancy.

Yea, I see it now too. Has any of your neighbours saw it yet? If they did, what did they say?

The nerf rockets were for shooting only the ships. All they have to do is touch the ship.
