300psi + epoxy putty
I am working on a piston valve shotgun. for the pipe that the piston seals against, I epoxied it into the back of a bushing. do you think the epoxy putty will be able to keep it from sliding out with 300psi of pressure?

Lol...I can just see the barrel flying out instead of the projectile. But like MaxuS said, If it is done right then yes it probably will work.

It is steel.Did you sanded the pipe as well al the bushing? Then there should be no problem at all.

I don't see any problems, the epoxy is pretty much only a sealant for that application. You should be fine, just as long a the bushing stays in place.
Considering that there's essentially no force trying to push the pipe out, and (by the looks of it) over 1/2" of steel opposing whatever force there is, yes, I think the epoxy should be fine. I've had JBweld survive several thousand psi in sparkplug type applications exposed to a lot more violence than this will be.

the seat is 3/4" and that isn't a 1/2" of steel holding it in those are the threads.
Exactly. As I said before, hardly any force. If it was a 1" seat, there'd actually be 236lbf on it at 300 psi.wouldnt there be a little less than 300 pounds trying to push it out assuming it has a 1" seat?
