Stupid quote of the now:
joestue "The chamber is rated to 100 psi, it don't say that on the side, but the 2 inch stuff is rated to 300, so by analogy..."
"only the last two feet hear the end is black cellular core"
"I'm taking it to 300 psi"

that reminds me about Crysis, but it would have to be on the lowest resolution and settings and even lower again.
well i thought this topic was darn interesting (if people manage to stay on topic that is)
so i just throw in my desktop.
and i see people tell their specs to and i just started to build computers so that fits in pretty well...

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+ (not more to say, look in the upper right corner) and a quad at 3.0Ghz is in the mail.
GPU: two ATI Radeon HD4850 on crossfirex and one 4870x2 2GB is in the mail with my prosessor.

Here's mine, picked a simple background that looked pro, since I can't really show one of the others I like so much, its not technically explicit, but it may offend so I stick with this for now since I bring my computer to school.
I use Zune desktop theme to make it all gray and orange (pro-ness, I know)
and I use rocket dock instead of having icons, much neater, I do all my file organizing in many folders and sub folders and sub sub folders
And I know what you're thinking, Postal 2 and GTA San Andreas with all the mods and trainers one could ever want, AWW YEAAA

320 GB hard drive
Backlit keyboard
...same Carina Nebula desktop as was on last year's laptop

Well here is my laptop desktop:
You can probably tell pretty well what I do with my time. Photography, spudguns, pirate, complain about how shitty Vista is (so much so that I changed the settings to look like xp), and other stuff that I don't want anyone else to know about (TrueCrypt.) Unfortunately, there is no alternative to a Mac or Windows when it comes to photography...
To make up for that, my desktop runs UBUNTU!!!
I cycle through various backgrounds, all of which I took my self (including the rocket launch on my laptop)
wow, talk about image spamming on my part...

Here is the one on my laptop, the other one was on my dads CPU. I couldnt find the print screen button on my laptop, so I had to find the image.

I'm always changing my desktop. Here's my current one, which is of NGC 2264, which makes up, assuming my astronomy is still good, four objects in the Monoceros (Greek for Unicorn) constellation: the Cone Nebula, Fox Fur Nebula, Snowflake Cluster and Christmas Tree cluster.
My favourite source for these things is trawling NASA's picture of the day website, pulling out the things that are large enough for my 1440x900 display (which is a lot of them, some are into multiple thousands of pixels a side).
Given we seem to be talking specs at the same time, it's still the same laptop I had last year, although I have since changed the hard drive to a 320 GB 7200 rpm one, and gone up to 4 GB of faster RAM, which has made it a more able gaming machine, even with Vista.
I had considered changing the processor, but aside from the cost of doing such a thing, I like the humour inherent in the T7250.
Thing is, it has a basic clock of 200 MHz, which is then normally multiplied by 6, 8 or 10. Except occasionally, because there's something called "Intel Dynamic Acceleration", which means that sometimes it goes up to 11.
And everyone knows that something going up to 11 is always awesome.

Well, it is Crysis, but its actually on the highest settings possible. It was practically a slideshow while I was snapping screenshots. I think the JEPEG compression faded it a little though.SpudFarm wrote:
