You have to remember this is a BBMG - individual BB power is crap, less than 1 ft/lb usually, but when you're firing more than 5 per second, that's where the power comes from.
A good analogy is the
American 180 submachinegun.
It's chambered for the tiny 22LR rimfire round, not much energy there and a single round will barely make an impression on a kevlar vest. However this thing fires at a blistering 1200 rounds per minute - 20 rounds per second - and the "jackhammer effect" of multiple imapcts can tear through body armour easily.
Thanks JSM, i have always wondered about that....

It's something people often overlook, "oh my BBMG only fires 250 fps so it's safe for airsoft games" ignoring the fact that it's the concentrated fire that makes BBMGs so devastating.

It's a bit like comparing an axe to a chainsaw really I suppose. A single axe blow will do more to a tree than a single chainsaw tooth on any one pass, but the combined effect of the many teeth can chew through very thick trees (or your leg) pretty quickly.
I do doubt that any sane being would go within 100 metres of someone they knew had a 6000 rpm strafer with a ME of 1J a shot without a lot of backup.
That's 100 Joules of pain a second... ouch.
Novacastrian: How about use whatever the heck you can get your hands on?
frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.
