Okay well I looked at Larda's hybrid some more, and since he used burst disks, I figure that is the way to go. One question is, how would you mount/place/configure the burst disk in the cannon? Would there be problems making it airtight?

Compared to getting a piston valve to seal properly (which, for the record, I have never yet achieved), getting a burst disk to seal is nothing. No fancy machining, exotic materials, or inordinately good luck is required in this case. If you can get a barrel sealer to seal, a burst disk won't give you any problems.

So Ive seen people using layered foil burst disks. So for example, barrel sealers use a sealing face made of (insert rubber here). Burst Disks use a XXXXXX and are usually made of XXXXXX. lol

You made need to put an o-ring (google if you don't know) in the union (which holds the burst disk).

The burst disk is like a piston, it can probably be made from anything you want. Some things just work better then others, like foil, plastic, milk bottle circle cut outs, circle cut outs from soda cans...

Just be imaginative.

Once in a while I see a pneumatic concept and dream up a hybrid use that others may be interested in.

I've been dreaming up a semi-auto design where the trigger electronics will be controlled by the ignitor switch (trigger), a small blow forward bolt (valve) with switch attached (or pressure switch), And in between the two a solenoid to auto-vent the chamber.

Sort of silly for me to design one since I've never made a hybrid.
And not sure if I will...I probably will...But I have a few clever ideas on them.
Also it makes me wonder how many things similar are out there that work so good people never post them. :? 8)

The advantage of piston valves on hybrids (though alot more hassle to get them right) is the improvement of ROF. When you dont need to change a disk, its just vent(optional), load, fuel and fire.
